Loved Journey Stories with Dr McHugh! Mainly reading and watching films, then writing essays and answering short quizzes about them. Lectures were text based, but thought provoking and interesting. Gave creative freedom with the prompts, which was appreciated. Accessible via email and happy to answer questions/talk.

Professor McHugh is great. I took his Journey Stories class online. Overall, it is easy if you do the readings and put effort into blog posts. It is essential to do the readings and watch the videos because essay questions are extremely specific and somewhat obscure. He really likes pictures, sound bytes, etc in blog posts. Be creative.

Good Class! He really cares about the students. He posts daily questions from your reading assignment (lot of reading) I skimmed didn't really read. 1-2 essay/report papers, simple research.

Kevin tries to be hilarious but he's not actually. Most of the readings are moderate to difficult. He is easy at grading, though his class is boring. Overall you might get a good grade from him.

Prof McHugh is super nice and weird guy who loves what he does. A very easy class if you can think conceptually about space. He loves creative types who are able to do something unique & out of the box with his assignments. The whole class has a very laid back structure. He loves discussion and is easy to please. Interesting readings & videos too.

I recommend doing all photo-essays. The only thing I didn't like is to go out of my area of where I live since I don't drive, I take transit. Hard to get to photo-essay 2, but it was okay after all. Interesting class. The teacher knows his stuff and he will help you if he can. Just ask.

Very enthusiastic about human geography. The online assignments are very easy, but are sometimes time consuming. There are only 2 tests for the semester and they aren't that hard but if you bomb one of them it'll pretty much ruin your grade. The lecture is very boring but the material is interesting. Take good notes because tests are very specific.

I am a non GCU major who took Kevin's honors seminar "landscape, place, and memory." One of the best courses I have taken in undergrad so far. A good balance of stimulating without being overwhelming. Kevin is friendly, enthusiastic, and interesting. I would definitely take another class with him. Highly recommend.

He is a crazy and enthusiastic guy. Lectures were good and you definitely need to attend to understand the slides to study for the tests. Tests were annoying because he words the questions very elegantly worded instead of being straight forward. Used an online textbook which was a decent book. Good class to take for geography majors.

Prof. McHugh is enthusiastic, makes really bad jokes, & really tries to get to know you if you speak up in class. Online textbook (never read) has easy and sometimes fun online activities. We watch a lot of interesting documentaries in class. Some lectures can be a little boring at times. Tests are a little tough, but he curves them. Great class!

I definitely enjoyed this class. It is half concentrated on basic cultural terms & case studies. Several films & easy online homework. He appreciates class discussion, creative thinking, & a bad joke or two. He is always in a good mood and is very approachable. pay attention and review the ppt before tests.

Class is usually entertaining with all the discusions but can also put you to sleep other times. Class isnt mandatory but its a good idea to show up and take notes because tests are very discriptive and mainly based off the power points. Theres also occassional homeworks online that are very easy

I really enjoyed Dr. McHugh's Social Geography class, although I felt that his instructions were fuzzy. Dr. McHugh provided most of the readings on-line, so the only book we purchased was a non-textbook biography.
