Comment:

Very good teacher. He is very knowledgable in the material and loves to talk about it. He explains things very clearly and puts a lot of animation into it, which keeps the class interesting. No textbook and only homework is 3 take home essays. I got an A so its not impossible but you do need to pay attention, take notes in class and read the cases.

At times can get confusing, but goes back and re explains everything so everything makes sense in the end. No textbook just readings online through his website and the only grade were three papers, which I found to be simple.

He is absolutely the worst teacher I have ever had. For one the exams were all essays and no matter what you put you got a C or lower. At the beginning of the year he said you can only get an A,B, or C on the exams yet 76% of people got a D or and F on the first 2 exams. Absolutely pathetic, if you take him you are completely brain dead.

Nice guy, loves to talk about the material. Make sure to pay attention and take notes. No textbook req'd, we just read w/e he posted on his site. 3 take home essay exams that aren't difficult to write if you read the cases, etc. that he posts online. You DO have to do some thorough reading to be able to write an "A" paper.

Mumford is wonderful. VERY useful information. You learn how to think/write critically instead of just regurgitating information. Gets a bad rep due to hard grading... Make an effort, take notes ALWAYS, use spell/grammar check, and read all the cases! I got an A so its not impossible. Good luck :)

Very energetic and fun professor. BUT VERY HARD to get a decent grade. There are no tests but there is 3 ciritical writing, which is imposible to get an A in. Instructions are unclear, and there are no feed back or commnets.

Really enjoyed this class and learned a TON!! All the information that Mumford covers is applicable to real world situations. And it is possible to put an A if you take really good notes to help you with the essays. By far, this was my favorite class this semester!

Not that great of a professor. instead of most professors giving you an A on a paper and marking it down you start at a C and have to work up. Make sure to take good notes and you should be able to do okay. Overall he's is a very smart man with lot's of experience. However, his grading is bad!!!

Great class. No easy. Mumford is interesting, thoughtful, energetic, and the material is interesting. Took course at 7:45 a.m. tough to stay awake. Got lot out of course.

Actually, I do understand critical writing and reading and did my best to write papers in his dumb I.R.A.C format but I still got C's. He just thinks he's some amazing english professor. Also, good luck ever trying to visit him in office hours.... he's not very "World Class. Face to Face." if you ask me...

I went to class about 70 percent of the time, did almost none of the readings, and got an A in the class. If you think you are a good writer and somewhat interested in blaw, then take this class! Anyone who complains about the grading in this class just doesn't understand critical writing and reading or isn't very good at it.

If you really want to take a super hard class, take his class. You are gonna feel how horrible your are at writing And never dream you can get A.If you get B,which means you are lucky, or ~~~~~~~anyway, his class is not boring, but his grading style can let you hete Blaw.

says in the beginning that you'll be able to pass his class easy....total LIE. he is by far the most critical teacher when it comes to the three essays, which is the only things your grade is based on. got a c- making me have to take it again...worst teacher, don't take him. and don't be fooled by the fact he seems cool and allright at first

You're probably gonna get a C out of this class, regardless of how hard you try. But if you get a B, consider yourself very lucky. A's are basically impossible. It's a brutal course that concentrates more on analytical writing than the actual subject matter, and the text is basically useless. I was very disappointed.

Even if you try your hardest on the papers good luck on getting a B and keep dreaming about an A. He is a nice guy though and class was interesting. Notes were hard to gather and the last test was hard because the textbook was useless and like mentioned before notes were slim.

You will get a C in this class. Luckily you won't get anything worse, that's the lowest grade you can get in his class. But I know of only 2 people in a class of 40 that got anything but a C on their papers. The first day he told us we wouldn't need our textbooks. He's totally hippy and it's impossible to take notes but the class is interesting!
