Comment:

He didn't teach the class. At all. The "lectures" were outdated videos from 2003 he found on the internet that didn't sync up with the textbook. Everything was auto graded. HW/quizzes are done thru a $80 Pearson service. If you can teach yourself and do the work, you'll be fine. HW due every day, but no final, no due dates, you can work ahead.

Pretty basic class. He says you need 20 hours a week for it, trutjust breezed through it. Not particularly exciting but maybe that's because I took it online. Just plow through the assignments and you'll be fine aslong as you get them done.

Comment:

He's gonna say at least 18 hours for this class a week but honestly it took me 3 max. Homework doesn't have late grades. You can turn in quizzes as late as you want with only a .5% penalty. He'll provide stat crunch and textbook videos but watching them is completely unnecessary. Skim the book and do the homework and you'll pass easily.

Comment:

Do all of the homework assignments, stay current on the course schedule with assignments and tests. The online is self-paced but he did implement a reasonable penalty for motivational purposes so that students wouldn't fall behind (it works). Ask lots of questions and take advantage of the different tools offered throughout the course.

Comment:

Professor Schmeeckle made a class I had dreaded taking very manageable. It is a lot of work, but the grading is fair and the class is designed to promote learning (not to penalize students for late work or doing poorly on a few things). He is great about answering any questions you have, and the lectures really break down complicated concepts well.

This is a big elementary science class. If you took and liked science in high school, you'll probably breeze through it. If not, there's a lot of content to absorb from a not-too-exciting professor. He's smart, so you'll learn if you pay attention and ask questions. Pop quizzes for bonus points are offered after tests or when attendance is low.

Says textbook is optional but it is impossible to pass without it. Only a few people showed up to class regularly. There is only 3 exams in the lecture portion of GPH 111 and even with the book it is hard to pass the exams.

Schmeeckle is a solid professor. I feel like I learned a lot in this class, but some lectures do drag on. Tests are fairly hard. He is very helpful and gives good explanations in review sessions and office hours.

I highly recommend taking Schmeeckle for an easy A in GPH 111 for your SQ requirement. Dont buy the book, he posts lectures, so you don't have to go to class. There is no homework, the lab is really easy and short. The key to getting an A is go to the review and do the study guide. Schmeeckle is monotone but crystal clear on what you need to know.

Professor Mark is a wonderful teacher. Yes I did show up to class every time but it was completely worth it. He has so much patience explaining things. He uses power points slides, tells you what will be on the quizzes a class before the quiz. He literally gives you the answers. Labs are much easier than any math related course or physics.

Homework assignment are absolutely rediculous. If you remember how long your calculus homework took, then multiply that by 3. In other words, one homework assignment which is due every two weeks takes at least 6 hours to complete, but if someone really wanted to, they could easily copy off of another person. Uses R instead of SPSS. Why?

I would not recommend taking this class with this professor. His lectures are very dry and his tests don't always fair questions. Also, there's no need to buy the textbook. I still have the book and have never opened it.

I know he has monotoned voice and the lectures can be boring... But he really wants you to do good and learn.. even though most of us just want good grades. Honestly, I was late to the final test, but he still let me took it! This class is consist of 3 tests (75%) and a lap (25%). Some study guide available, but we did our own google doc and shared

Schmeeckle is a good professor overall. His quizes are straight forward and he will often tell you exactly what is on them. The homework is time consuming and frustrating, especially if you are not familiar PASW. Final exam was challenging. Not an easy A.

Schmeeckle knows his stuff, but his lectures are horrible and boring. It's just one slideshow after another with content almost exactly from the textbook. Anyone can literally just read the textbook, take the tests, and pass the class with an A+. I would recommend this class if you want a very easy Lab Science (SQ) credit.

Teacher is awesome. Didn't use my textbook. . didn't even buy the textbook. All material is covered in class. Powerpoints available online. Attend at will. Lab is a cake walk. Great class to take.

Comment:

Schmeeckle knows his subject and it shows in his teaching. The class was very easy. He covers the topics thoroughly and even gives some answers to the tests in his lectures. There is always a study guide for the tests and if you spend some time doing it, you should get an A easily. The lab is even easier than the lecture!

I LOVE Schmeeckle! The man is a genius. He has trouble dumbing down for his students so for me it was a bit challenging. But he graded on a curve and wants his students to succeed he really does.
