Prof. Kirby doesn't use a textbook which is excellent because he provides all of the info we need to understand the subject and to pass his tests & quizzes. Homework isn't graded and is designed to directly prepare you for tests/quizzes. If you put in the work, as in any math class, you'll get the A. He is a mean/stern guy, but a fair teacher.

Choose this professor if you already know what hes teaching. Lectures are 3 hours long of just him talking. Homework is assigned but not graded. There are quizzes every week and a test every other week. Quizzes are 3 problems so if you get one wrong you automatically fail. If you dont do work his way it will be marked wrong. Harsh and knows it.

He is a great teacher! When taking this class you need to do the worksheet because even though he is not grading them, you will find similar problems on your tests. Because of COVID 19 my class was switched to online but from experience with him in another class, you will have quizzes but just do the worksheets and you will do fine and he drops 1.

Attended one online lecture by this guy. Demanded that we give all our answers in fractional form, claimed that we would not receive credit if we did not solve the problems the exact same way he did, and repeated threatened to have us removed from the class if he believed that we were cheating. Just seemed to be very cranky the entire time.

I took his class, having read that he was supposedly good. I wish I hadn't. I watched 4 different students cry in his class, and he offered no solace. His tests are timed, and very difficult, and he has threatened to withdraw students on multiple occasions. He is absolutely terrifying. If you can, please take a different teacher. Save yourself.

The 8-week course can sound daunting, but Mr. Kirby is phenomenal. He doesn't use a book & teaches from his brain. He is willing to work with you if you work with him. He has helped people love math & become good at it. That definitely says something. Do the homework and you'll pass the test. Choose him! A must!

I failed college algebra at ODU twice, i have previously failed precalculus at TCC. YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS IN THE WORLD BY NOT TAKING THIS CLASS, this man teaches straight from his knowledge and doesn't rely on the textbook to teach like so many professors do. IF you pay attention and do the work you will receive an A.

Precalculus was the first college class I've ever taken and I've been out of high school for 8 years. I took an 8 week class over the summer and had no issues maintaining an A throughout. He is amazing at what he does and breaks things down. Do the math his way and you'll have no problems. DO YOUR HOMEWORK, you won't regret it. He's funny too.

Absolutely love Professor Kirby. Just a caution if you are sensitive I wouldn't suggest you take his class, he has a blunt in your face sense of humor. Other than that he is great at what he does. Make sue you show up to class on time for the quizzes and do the homework even though its not graded. He does drop two lowest quizzes.

Took him for an 8 wk class, quizzes everyday before class starts and 4 test he drops the two lowest quizzes. He may come off as rude but he is THE BEST math teacher ive ever had. Its simple show up take notes ask questions do the sheets he gives out (which are not for grading but does help for test and quizzes) and you will pass! loved mr kirby!

Professor Kirby is a great Math teacher. He definetly knows what he is doing. You don't need book or online practices. The ways he teachs is really easy to understand. Everything you need to do is follow his instruction. He is nice and funny. He usually say "THE GRADE YOU GET IS THE GRADE YOU EARN". So, you are better be ready to study.

Mr. Kirby is by far one of the best Math teachers i have ever taken. He doesn't use the book and his notes come straight from the dome however he is very knowledgeable. If you have questions about quizzes, tests, or hw email him and he will answer in a timely manner. Very sarcastic and funny however isn't afraid to give you grade you earned. EasyA

Kirby is the best math teacher I have ever had. I ended up with a 95 all because if you do the homework you will do well on quizzes and tests. Makes the class so much fun because he is one crazy old man. No cumulative final either!

I took a fast paced 8 week class and was very intimidated the first day but he was great, very straight forward and makes sure there is no confusion. He always says the grade you get is the grade you earn which is very true, he gives time in class to work on homework which gives you time to ask questions if you're unsure on anything.

The funniest professor I have ever had. You have to take his class. I took pre-calc the first eight weeks and 270 the second. He really knows how to break it down. He also seems mean at the beginning but trust me this guy really looks out for students. Copy what he puts on the board, study it and do the daily quizzes(2 questions)you'll pass

He is an excellent teacher and really knows his stuff. Just copy his notes and study and follow his methods and you will pass. I hadn't taken math in over 15 years and this guy made me feel like math is easy.
