Comment:
Prof. Weston was rude whenever I emailed him. His grading standards are outrageous. He assigns homework as if his students does not have a life besides his class. He does not provide feedback and deducts many points for trivial mistakes. I took his online class, so I cannot judge how good he is in a classroom, but definitely NOT recommended!!!!!!!!

Does not set examples or describe the quality of work expected. Grades to an unrealistic standard in which no student can ever receive a perfect score.

Comment:
This unfortunately felt like an English course. He showed too many films in class and the assigned readings were memoirs and novels which were not very informative. Essays were centered on these readings and the grading rubric emphasizes small things like thesis statement usage and syntax over actual analysis. Fun guy but inadequate history prof.

I took a history class at 7:45 in the morning and actually stayed awake! He is a fun teacher who is very passionate about what he does. He helped do the research for one of our books and was going for his PhD in the afternoons from UW. He gets what it is like to be a student and is young enough to make everything relative. Highly recommend.

He's a cool dude, laid back and helpful. His lectures are humorous (and remind me slightly of an Eddie Izzard monologue, only with fewer tangents and whatnot), and he'll often show interesting movies such as 1900 and Rachida. Take his class. You won't regret it.

Professor Weston is by far the best teacher I've ever had. He's really laid back (in a good way!) and values questioning history versus just eating it up. I recommend for non history majors. He's hilarious at 7:45am, so make sure to get a class with him.

Nate is an awesome proffesor, the kind that gets you motivated and makes things interesting. Great sense of humor and a wonderful selection of texts and films in his class, and from reading the other ratings here, it seems like he switches things up each semester which makes things fun, and fresh. Definitely recommended.

Nate is a great teacher, he utilizes all forms of media: movies, current events, books and textbooks. If you pay attention and do the readings you are bound to gain something great from this course. He has great debates and likes when people speak up. For those of you who don't appreciate a dry sense of humor and are sensative dont take his class.

The class was extremely boring for 7:45am. But it worth it. Nate Weston is funny and very insightful. All you need to do is take good notes and you will be fine. You really don't need to read any of the books and the test and midterms are really not that hard. Take him, i do recomend.

Very, very funny and witty. Dry sense of humor, isn't just vomiting up the book, -insightful- commentary. He seems to restructure the class from quarter to quarter; the movies Definitely vary each time and we had a big presentation other classes did not. 2 closed note quizzes, paper, presentation. Good notes CAN substitute for reading the book.

Nate is hilarious in this totally quirky way. It takes you like 3 weeks in to realize he's making fun of kids in the class - and most of the time they don't get it. The class itself is boring, but he makes it entertaining enough to go at least weekly.

i learned a lot in this class....and it wasnt too hard at all, half of the time he is lecturing but makes it a point to make connections and make it clear whereas some professors just repeat the textbook, there are two big quizes and if you study youll do fine, hes a funny teacher i would recommend this class

I really don't know why I even bother going to Weston's class, we never do anything. Lots of reading assigned but you don't have to do it all to get a decent grade. Two open-note tests, plus one paper due at the end of the quarter, that's about it. If you actually want to learn something (like I did), this defintely isn't the class for you.

We watched The Scorpion King with the Rock and then wrote about it...that was awful. We did watch a fun movie about Rome though.

Weston's class is ridiculously easy. He assigns silly powerpoints and reading material that you don't have to read to get an A. He gets mad if people don't participate though, so make an effort to say at least one thing per day - he's keeping track.

weston is hilarious. he wants you to do good in the class. yes the power point presentations every week kinda suck but the class is great, even if it was at 745. take whatever class you can from him. he is a great teacher and encourages thinking outside the box.

Weston is awesome. He is easy but it's still worth it to take his class. He assigns a lot of reading, but you don't really have to do all of it to participate in discussions. What he really cares about is making connections from history to modern times. He doesn't force you to mem. dates.

He is so unrealistic with his reading materials (300+ pages a week and all on the computer) and he will make you do a powerpoint presentation every week. He tries to be funny, but his dry humor is a little much at 7:45am. DON'T BUY THE BOOK FROM THE BOOKSTORE . . . YOU WILL NOT USE IT!!
