I like her, but it takes a while to get used to how fast she talks! She's been teaching a long time, & sometimes assumes that the class knows things. Other than the bk, the handout info is kinda disorganized & can be confusing. Tests are on the easy side, but you'll probably need to study a little. There's extra credit. Option to do serve-learning.

This teacher is a firecracker. She passionately presents her knowledge and helpfully explains cultural concepts and always leaves the door open for class discussion. She has a knack for assessing her students and will not go easy on slackers so don't waste her time.taking her class has for me started a lifelong relationship with plants. YAY LA'AU!!

Ohh boy this class was difficult. You simply have to come to class everyday to know the material for upcoming tests. Nice teacher but lectures were painfully boring.

As others previously stated in the other rating i would agree, this class is one of the hardest classes in KCC. Its not interesting + hard=one of the worst classes to take. I highly recommend not taking the class unless you are truly interested in botany and plants in the hawaiian environment. I hope this teacher retires soon

Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable instructor. Sometimes difficult to understand b/c she has an accent, but she'll repeat things. Exams are the kind that you can't fake your way through. This class has a service learning component.

You will always feel like you are only getting half the information, on top of it, you have to get through her thick accent. She gave us assign. that made no sense (JUST ONE ex-Do part 3 and 4, when no part 3 and 4 exists). The whole class was taught HALF ASS. You never feel like you truly learned anything. She needs to retire already.

This class is easy as long as you attend class, do the service learning, study at least a decent amount, and you talk to her. Nelda is a very nice and caring person, most people who think other wise probably slacked in her class or did not attend it and did the class project.

The way she articulates makes her a little hard to understand, but you can tell that she really loves botany and cares a lot about her students. If you have questions, she'll answer them. She is very open and easy to talk to, she's not one to give you the run around. Her class is easy if you study at least 1.5 days (or the cram equivalent) prior

Honestly, I had no interest to the subject prior to this class, but afterward I found this class very interesting! She gives difficult and wordy tests, you have to attend lecture to understand the material because she gives examples. Make conversation with her, you'll find her to be very nice.

Professor Quensell has a lot of passion and energy for botany, and her classes are a generally fun; although her lectures can be a little chaotic. To succeed: Read ahead of her lectures, be as thorough as you can in lab and exam, and participate/attend class (I think it's required anyway). Be prepared to invest a large amount of time on this class.

Prof. Q is a wonderful professor who truly knows her content. Her passion for botany has given the class a much more broad approach. Although tests are very difficult, homework is scarce and the class itself was fun. Be prepared to do some independent reading combined with solid lecture notes.

She is a very nice woman and knows a lot about her field. She is pretty funny. However, if you take any of her classes than you must be serious, because there is a lot of information and the tests are always difficult. You must spend much time outside of the class studying in order to recieve a fitting grade. Not an easy grader, but good teacher.

If you're going to take her class be prepared to work very very hard. This is probably the most difficult class I've ever taken at KCC. You can ask her questions but sometimes she seems to either not understand the question or not give clear responses. She is a nice lady though and if you study really hard you can do well in her class.

I agree, her class is not easy. Not really structured either. She is helpful if you go to her and ask for help. She does expect a lot from her students. If you study from the book, ask questions, and seek help from her it would make the class a little easier. Definately choose the Service Learning Option...it's a must!!

probably the hardest 2 classes i've taken at KCC, but in the end if you put in the effort she'll reward you. her heavy accent, tendency to stray off topic, and very hard exams made the class difficult. but she is willing to work with you. her lab is mostly field trips, if you take her lecture its either seminars or service learning (she favors SL)

Do not take her class!! She is not understanding teacher, by any means. She puts people down and expects that all her information is right, without listening to the new data, year after year. Plus, with her thick accent and talking fast, 75 percent of my classmates dropped or failed because of her lack of teaching and support. F to you Professor
