MOST BORING CLASS EVER. IN THE CLASS ROOM HE IS AN ASS AND HE'LL CALL YOU OUT IN A HEARTBEAT. Test are open note, but they are still impossible. Worst class. I didn't understand anything, he mumbles. Good luck. Wait till he retires before taking Microbiology haha. Seriously though.

Very sarcastic teacher. Test are open note, however, they are still hard. Majority of what is on the test, he verbally says which means attending lectures are important. Reaches out to his students in his office hours for help. Made my first C in college with this class. Wouldnt recommend.

Very fair professor. He gives you rules and advice at the beginning of class..FOLLOW BOTH. He makes himself available during ofc hours and outside and is very helpful if you show a genuine effort to help yourself. He's real tough in class but real nice outside of class. Tests are open note but still tough. You really need to attend class! Got an A!

Started out hating him but ended up liking him. Not as mean one-on-one as in lectures. Very important to print slides AND to go to class and take as many notes as you can. Tests are open-notes but they are still not easy and the notes you take in lecture make all the difference. Has a few in-class pop quizzes. Do homework-easy way to pull grade up.

He isn't that bad. Tests are open notes but you HAVE to go to class to write down everything he says to do good. Drops lowest test and quiz. Curves as low as an 88.6 into an A if you attend class. He puts your name on random things to pick up so he knows if you come or not. He doesn't stay on topic sometimes and is pretty funny.

He is a very mean person. However, he is a good professor. Do the following & you'll be fine: NO PHONES, don't miss class, 2 slides per page, no talking, no food or drinks, actually take notes, & don't study for anything else. His tests aren't that bad honestly and lab is pretty easy too. If you go to office hours he'll help you out sometimes too!

I only took him for lab,and suggest you take him for lab before anyone else.Upon first meeting him, I held my head and just knew i was going to screw up and probably fail the class. I ended up getting a's and b's on his practicals. He gives study guides and is very helpful! Turned out to be one of my favorite classes & teachers!

Where do I begin?! I had the hardest time pulling a B on the lecture tests and they're OPEN NOTES! I tried so hard to write down everything he says but it was no use! Everyone learns differently and my learning techniques were not coherent with his teaching techniques. I passed the class but not with what I wanted. He's a good lab teacher though!

It's a difficult class because of the content, but if you study, it will show, plus he lets you use your notes on all the exams. There are quizzes in class, and he only warns you about them sometimes. He can seem rude, but if you get to know him, Hattaway will help you out. Reading the chapters in the book helps too.

Kinda intimidating at first but if you get know him he's really sweet. I recommend taking HIM for the lab because he will tell you what's important, and he will get to know your name which is REALLY good. Lets you drop your lowest test grade! Has attendance checks every so often so go to class. He can seem mean but he's not at all just talk to him!

Dr. Hattaway is a great teacher. Make frieds with him, and he will always be there to help you if you need it. Tests are open notes, but study ahead of time. They are pretty hard. Take good notes, too! Great lab instructor as well! Make sure you study for tests and quizzes, but go to him for anything and he will help! This class is not easy, tho!

His tests are extremely difficult. They are open note, but isn't it saying something when no one gets a 100? Test questions seem to be mostly over what he says outloud. Write EVERYTHING the man says down. I had him for lab too. He was a great lab instructor - very detailed and clear when he explained things.

Let me say for the record this guy is not bad at all. He can be difficult to hear sometimes but ANYONE yells at him to speak up and he is very responsive. His tests are semi hard BUT they are ALL OPEN NOTE. Taking him with lab if the class has one is extremely helpful for his lectures. He's a very nice man and helpful if you're confused at all

He needs to retire. Some of the tangents he goes off on during lectures are way to personal and border on inappropriate. He is a mumbler, and what he mumbles will be what is on the test. He makes this class harder than it should be. He berrates and puts down the students. Take anybody else.

Great professor! Tests are open-note, but you have to study to finish them on time. Go to his office before and after tests to show him you are trying- This might bump you up a letter grade. If you have him for lab, read the manual before class, he has a tendency to call on people. Nice guy!
