Prof. Klein is hilarious and his class is a must-take! As long as you read the assigned reading, you will pass the quizzes. Provides a study guide for the midterm and final, and offers tons of extra credit (+10 points per quiz and +50 points for poems). He always has the class laughing and his passion for reading is obvious in his lectures.

Took Professor Klein for English Lit and had the best experience. He made the class fun and easy to understand English poetry. Homework was fun to do and read along with extra credit. He is a bit quirky and has an interesting sense of humor but it makes for a very interesting lectures. Highly recommend this professor

I was an international student and was a bit afraid of taking english 1 on my first semester, I heard it was horrible, boring hard and many more words with a negative connotation. Professor Klein changed all that with his knowledge, humor and passion for litterature. He even inspired me to start writing. In my eyes the best Professor at SMC.

Klein is great. Took his class on medieval to renaissance lit, and he totally made the subject fun. He's incredibly energetic and knowledgeable. He'll go off on the history of such and such and if you pay attention you learn a lot. Recommended if you are genuinely interested in the subject/era. Easy grader and assignments be ready to write and read

Professor Klein is one of the most influential professors I have ever had and will ever have. He really knows his stuff and is more than willing to help you. I got an A in the class but probably would have gotten an A+ had I read every essay as it was assigned. Really, reading the essays was the biggest tool in getting a good grade. Awesome prof.

He's very accessible and helpful. READ, read everything and you'll find this class extremely easy. If you do not read, you will fail. Your midterm is easy but your final will be hard as a PhD graduate exam. It's cumulative, with over 30 questions that ask for author or character name of selected quotes or excerpts from poetry or prose. Good luck!

I think the prof is over-rated in this web.Join his class since people say he is good but not.Every lesson have to read couple of essay. The essay is not a common essay on the web but is the very harsh, old style essay n quiz on it. and the mark is based on the quiz.inter. stud. must avoid it!

Such a laid back guy. His sense of humor was pretty dark and he references the same joke numerous times but just laugh with him and he'll like you :) *If you READ THE HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS, you will ace the daily quizzes* Do the extra credit and study everything he writes on the board and you will get an A. Lenient grader much recommended.

The guy has a dark sense of humor, and is pretty sarcastic, which I like, but I know that's not for everyone. I thought he was a great teacher. there was a good amount of reading, lots of quizzes and a few papers, but he's really helpful and you learn a lot. He owns a bookstore on Venice and Centinela that's really cool.

Totally an eccentric. Although I may have been alone on this one, I thought he was histerical. Goes on tons of tangents- patience much required. tough grader when it comes to writing, but if you want an A, GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. Go, talk about your writing, about his writing, about his wife's toenail polish. honestly, it works. Long Live Klein!

It was an OK class. Quizzes almost every day worth 25 pts but u can get 30 for e.c. there are 4 essays that are hard to get A's on. there is a lit analysis/research paper, easy if u know how to write decently and find out what kind of writing he likes. midterm, final are mult choice on lectures, he does it to raise your grade. extra credit poems too

He loves to make jokes, and is constantly kidding around with his students. Very easy class and he loves literature. He is also a drama teacher, so its interesting to listen and watch him act out poems and stories. Easy to understand. Just do the readings, extra credit and book analysis paper and you will do fine in class. WONDERFUL teacher!

he is a nice guy. he's not perfect & can like a few kids more than others BUT he does give everyone a chance. hes REALLY into english, total expert & if youre not interested or attempt to be, it will suck. he does treat you like a high school kid, tho-seating chart, lame quiz every class & corny jokes. just be polite & you'll get a GREAT grade

There is a quiz on almost every reading assignment. He gives a lot of extra credit. Tests are based mostly on lexicon given during lectures. Nice man and willing to work with you. He lets you rewrite your papers if you're not happy with your grade. He is tough on grammar. Downside is he's longwinded; lectures can be immensely boring.
