A good professor overall. Classes are engaging and interesting. Her feedback on first essay drafts are helpful, they contain a lot of insightful thoughts and suggestions. Her grading policy is okay but a bit unexpected sometimes; you expect a certain grade by the way she compliments your work, but end up getting a different grade.

She is a wonderful teacher except she expects alot. I am a really good writer and she would make me go above & beyond for an A which was annoying. There were weekly quizes && responses due every week and if you dont stay on top you can easily fall behind. After awhile the work got tedious.

She is by far the BEST english professor I have ever had. It's true that you do have to work hard for your A but as long as she sees you're trying you can earn it. Very fair with her grading. Is very clear, fun, energetic and shows passion for her class. Extremely easy to get along with. As long as you do your work and participate you're good! :)

Very likely the best professor at LIU. She returns paper drafts with very helpful comments so it's simply impossible to do poorly in her class unless you're not putting any effort into your work. She also pushes you to think critically and go beyond your "comfort zone" in your writing.

Professor Gilles is the best english teacher you can possibly get! Classes are fun to attend and at the end of the semester I felt that my writing improved drastically...Not an easy A but possible if you work hard...Definitely reccomended!
