Comment:

Professor Greenfield is a very intellectual man. However, you can get very lost in his lectures. Additionally, attendance is sometimes mandatory. Also - READ! Read everything he assigns! You need to know what you're talking about for the final paper. Overall? I wouldn't mind him as a mentor, I just didn't like him as a professor.

Positives: No in class exams, no quizzes, no WRITTEN homework, one take home exam final, a one page paper, never takes attendance. Negatives: simply reads from the text which is quite boring, your final grade rests on a one page paper and a take home final, if you don't read the texts consider yourself screwed.

unhelpful no attendence is required. There is education gained, this class is a joke there was no attendence and only 1 final paper. The class is a waste of money and time. I still dont understand how he is a teacher, and still teaching at adelphi he should be in a retirement home.

Although American Philosophy was very dull, he did his best to keep it interesting. I didn't attend any classes in april [he doesn't take attendance], and didn't do any work until the final paper, on which I got a B+, making that my overall grade. Just follow his guidelines to the T for that paper and you're set.

I read the comments below and thought he was easy but he is actually a difficult grader. I suggest you should only take this course if you really have to. Dont waste your time. He's boring and sometimes reads to himself like he is talking to himself. Most ppl in my intro to philosophy class got a C. Go figure!

I took him for Ethics and morality. He never remembers when you are absent and doesn't take attendance. He gets mad when you don't do your readings. I loved Philosophy until I took his class. Do the readings and the 1 million case study reaction papers on all different ways to abort a baby and you'll do fine. The final is a case study research ppr.

Overall, a good course that is interesting to take and Greenfield made me laugh alot with his corny jokes and sense of humor. He doesnt give out too many assignments though, and since he doesnt know anyone's names, I wonder how he arrives at your grade. There are only two big papers and a few small assignments. Be prepared to talk in class also.

Very cute, fair, and sweet man! Although i was highly interested in phil. during my highschool career, taking intro kind of put a downer on my love for philosophy and all that intellectual stuff. It's so hard to pay attention in the class! he doesn't take attendance ever either. But all and all, he loves philosophy and what he does... and it shows.

I was interested in this class until I actually had it. I had never been more confused in my life. We had a quiz everytime class met, and there were many words in the textbookI I never seen before. You would need a dictionary to help understand his class. Unless you are a philosophy major, don't take this.
