Comment:
He can be really confusing at times during lecture; gets lost in his own lecture. He reads from the slides and offers practice questions, but doesn't give an answer so you don't know if you're correct or not. There was no homework, just 4 tests.

Says lecture attendance is mandatory, but he basically just restates everything from the textbook (which he wrote). It's interesting content, but lectures just aren't engaging at all. Grade based on midterm and final, but they're just practice problems from the book.

His class was unorganized, there were times he jumped around to different topics. Rambled on and occasionally got lost during his lectures. Had a different grading scale then what the school provided, so if you don't know your grade you'll have to ask him. Does not provide study guides, got an attitude when asked to provide one.

Your grade is based on 4 tests throughout the course. Lectures are long and boring. Attendance is very important because he uses examples from his lectures on the test. Overall, he is not super helpful and lot of the learning is done outside of class.

Economics is a difficult class for freshman to begin with. Professor Spurr does no discuss the content that will be on the test. He rambles on in class and refuses to answer questions. He moves on before the class understands the topic. His tests do not represent what is covered in class. Stay way.

Professor Spurr has a peculiar way of teaching which makes his class harder than what it needs to be. I personally would not suggest taking him if you do not intend on reading the material before going to class. I can't stress that enough! His lectures can get confusing because he doesn't thoroughly explain a topic before moving on to the next.

Lectures aren't bad. I actually learned a lot in this class but I don't think my grade reflected that properly. Come to class, read the book, and pay attention to lectures. The exam questions are from the book but he is a very difficult grader which is why it's difficult to get an A in the class. However, he does curve!

Good Prof! He lectures and gives examples from his book. So buy it and read it. At least half of the exam questions are straight examples from his book. Take good notes and come to class. Practice the end of chapter questions and you should do fine.

Sure, not all of the exam questions are in the book. But this is college, so you must expect to work. Dr. Spurr's class helped me gain a better understanding of economics and how to apply it to legal issues. Quite simply, his course changed the way I thought about economics. As he says, "Treat this class like a job: show up and do the work."

Avoid this class at all costs. Most unfair class I have taken in college. It is a midterm and a final exam and that is the entirety of the grade. Lectures are long and extremely boring. He is a very difficult grader, and the exam questions are very random and not from the book like he claims. Awful

I had no interest in Law Econ before attending this class but Dr. Spurr made this field so interesting. He wrote the textbook (which is also a good read) and is incredibly nice and helpful. Tests are based on end of chapter questions. Take him for research or for WI if you can. Awesome prof.

Writes his own book, lectures are straight out of the book, do the chapter questions. two exams no homework. but you have to read and go to class. ask him to email you the answers to the questions in the back of the book. He'll do it. Study those and you'll get an A. Kinda boring but the man is extremely intelligent.

Economics of Law-I actually was interested in his class-his teachings are straight from the book he wrote-which is actually a nice read. I enjoyed his class, if you read and do the problems in the back of the chapter, you would do perfectly fine in his class.

The Economic Foundations of Law. My recommendation to get an A, as I cracked his system by the final, is to read the chapter questions, answer them before the exam when you study. He takes exam questions from the chapter questions. Otherwise, no need to go to class or read the book.

Nice guy, but a little out of touch with the present age. His class is pretty easy, but make sure to go to class because a lot of exam questions given in lecture. Tends to get off topic and forgets the point he was trying to make until next lecture. Go to class and you'll do fine because he curves the test.

I took Spurr (SJS as he initialed himself in his emails to the class roster) with Economic Law, and for that reason, my experience with him is likely highly different from everyone else... or maybe theyre thinking of Strauss. Anyway, he writes the book for his own class: It's incredibly concise: Spurr knows what he's talking about from experience.
