Absolutely no clear grading criteria and doesnt even follow the standards he expects from his students. Dr. Borowski is one of the main reasons not to be a geology major at EKU.

I was a Geology major, and this was the first upper level course I had ever taken. Let's just say I don't think it was a good intro for me. I also am no longer a Geology major if that means anything. He wasn't the warmest person to talk to about things. Mandatory field trip on fall break, we each had to give a 25 minute presentation. Glad its over

Dr. Borowski is a joy to have as a professor, the lectures are very long, but he makes it worth your money. The exams are very hard but are open note. The field trip was fun, if a little short. Miss him already.

He's a nice guy. He just doesn't understand that he's teaching a gen ed class. He thinks everybody wants to know everything, and that we're all oriented to his teaching style. He doesn't use blackboard and he doesn't write your grades on homework. He gives extra credit, so make sure you do it. Extremely unapproachable. Doesn't curve the class.

I had to drop this class to avoid an F. Pay attention to things he says in class they will be on exam. first exam had questions about his personal life... tells you to see department if you need help. he expects you to know everything before class. only take if you already know a lot about this course.

He doesn't believe in study guides and won't help you out on what you need to study at all. You go over 10 powerpoint that are 15 pages long every day and he expects you to know all of it. Only reason I passed was because he drops your lowest test grade IF you have 80% participation through the semester. If you take this class GO TO CLASS.

Worst professor I have had. He is very blunt and rude. His lectures are from a power point and he gives a daily handout that you have turn back in at the end of class which is how he takes attendance. This class is very difficult. There is extra credit but it doesn't count for much. 4 exams total. If anyone else teaches world oceans, take them!

DO NOT take this class. Find some other option. I gave this class my all and still failed it, so did several others. He makes no sense and treats this class like a level 300 course. His tests are impossible no matter how much you study. He isn't helpful. STAY AWAY.

Dr. Borowski cracked me up! Very well-versed in and passionate about his field. Answers all questions asked, encourages student participation, and chumps students who text or sleep in class (as I feel he should). I didn't use the book much, but you can get any edition. I ended up buying an older one for $12 and only used it to study for tests.

Aside from the way he teaches the plate tectonics section, this class isn't bad at all. He tries to be as engaging as he can, and pads your grade with lots of participation points.

the course was a higher level course, but, his attitude towards the subject matter made it enjoyable and entertaing. he answers any questons and allows you to e-mail him with study guide questions. he was friendly and had a good sense of humor, one of my favorite classes. he was a great guy!

I don't understand all the negative/slanderous comments. Fun & engaging. Just bring a coffee to get through the long lectures. Read the book every week, or else you'll get lost. One of those profs who genuinely loves their subject, sometimes makes him hard to understand--which makes book reading important.

Very good instructor, entertaining and definitely knows his material. Provided study guides for the tests and didn't expect much class participation. He does swear a lot more than I would like a instructor too but would take him again.

Poor teacher of intro-level classes. Study guides have nothing to do with the tests. Plate tectonics section is a joke; he gives the entire class one day to completely outline and write a paper on the entire unit. Meaningless mandatory Saturday field trip to Cumberland Falls. Gave students C's so he wouldn't look bad when the entire class failed.

Absolutely horrible class and teacher. Incredibly rude to his students and cussed frequently. Tests were impossible. Hated taking the class and hated having him as a teacher. Do not take if you don?t have to. Tests really are ridiculous.

Not a bad lecturer, but he has a abysmal personality and seems to revel in his own pomposity. I'm going to do whatever it takes to avoid taking any more of his classes, which will be difficult seeing as there are basically 4 professors in the gly department at eastern now..

This is the worse gen ed possible and pure torture. He ALWAYS had a rude comment, his tests are impossible, he thinks he knows everything, he will not give you an A or answer your questions with one of his witty comments. DO NOT TAKE- I would have rather sat through 2 chem sessions
