Dr. Cummins is a tough but helpful professor. He can get exasperated when assignments aren't completed on time and will penalize your grade after a point. He's a tough grader, but is generally warm and welcoming before and after class and during office hours. He'll look over your mistakes and tailor - and work through - a plan to help you improve.

Comment:

I'm a Spanish Major and nothing you take will ever be as hard as 310. It is Grammar "boot camp." However, Cummins is helpful if you speak up and tell him what you are confused on. He is available outside of class and is more approachable than you might think he is. Also, he never told any stories about his sexual experiences to our class.

I absolutely LOVED Cummins as a teacher I was put into Intermediate accounting my freshman year and had never spoke it in my entire life. He was extremely helpful and helped improve my spanish skills substantially. I am an accounting major and did not even need to take a language but because I enjoyed him so much I took him for another semester.

I LOVED prof. Cummins. He was real funny. He also is very good as his Spanish. If you don't understand something, he'll repeat it, slowly if need be, and he also speaks very clear Spanish so that it is rather easy to understand if you pay attention. He is always available for help and his class goes by fast. Take him if you can, class was great!

you better be a rock solid straight a student if you are interested in taking this class. the whole foreign language dept at au sucks and he is one of the reasons for it. no one in the class understands anything and he does not clarify anything... just keeps on teaching. worst professor ever. avoid it if you can.

He is not very nice. He makes everyone miserable that takes his class. Salsgiver is much better. Cummins thinks he is dealing with more experienced spanish students than he is with intro classes. I did well in high school, but got here and nearly failed the class. Stay away from him and his classes.

He has to be the most discouraging teacher on this campus...I have never EVER done this bad in ANY class and I was considering minoring in spanish...with him making me feel like I do not have the ability to comprehend, I am highly considering taking back that decision.

I have never struggled in a spanish class until this one. I study for this class more than my other classes. I prepare for tests and papers for a ridicoulous amount of time, but I still am failing. I ask for help and he says I am doing ok with my understanding, but can't tell me why am failing.
