Comment:

Dr. Salomon is a boring lecturer, but he genuinely wants to help out students and teach you important skills. His grading seems slightly arbitrary, but follow his feedback and youll get an A. Doesnt call people out in class or anything. Overall a very nice guy who believes in his students!

Comment:

I took the class as a non-english major. Dr. Salomon was fantastic. His class discussions were very engaging, and he always seemed to shape the discussion around our ideas, which made participation very rewarding. The workload was very light (only three papers the whole semester) and the tests were pretty easy. Highly recommended.

Comment:

I was unclear as to how to get an A on an essay. I felt it would've helped immensely to workshop the first essay, or to have gone over in depth what an A essay looks like versus a B essay, and so on. His comments on essays were not critical enough for me to see why I would get a B+ instead of an A.

Comment:

One of the most intelligent and consistent professors I've had. His classes may seem tough but if you pay attention to his constructive criticism, you'll see improvements in your grade. I found his lectures to be boring at first but once I started paying attention, I was engrossed completely in the discussions. Definitely a recommended professor.

Fantastic teacher! You may think he's really intimidating when you first meet him, but he is extremely helpful and really and truly wants to help you improve your writing. His constructive criticism is incredibly clear, and even though praise coming from him isn't rare by any means, it's extremely satisfying and is always well-earned.

I took this course last year with Dr. Soloman, and it was really great. He was so informative, and discussions were fascinating. He was very encouraging and kind. This was my first wags course and I highly recommend it. I will take more of his classes in the future.

You'll pop ****s to his vocabulary. Easiest prof ever but you WILL learn if you pay attention. Cancels class before assignments are due. Tons of office hours. Loves your participation and works with your ideas to further class. Easy grader. Doesn't take roll but his demeanor and desire to help you learn will make you feel guilty for skipping.

He's a good professor to take if you want to get good grades on your papers. However, his way of interesting the class in discussion lacks, so it wasn't one I looked forward to going to the most. He's very helpful though if you need help on a paper or advice.

Salomon will make you a better writer. Yes, the class is more work than other English faculty may make it, but it's worth it. You're going to be writing papers all throughout college, might as well learn how from one of Trinity's brightest and clearest professors.

Fairly cool teacher not too hard.... wrote a 6 pager the day it was due and still got a B+ reading is good but you dont have to follow the schedual since there arent any tests just papers. Best english prof I've had.

Comment:

Shakespeare's Sonnets and Sex: Salomon is brilliant and definitely the most eloquent man I have ever met. His everyday vocabulary is probably five times that of the average professor. He is also fun and easygoing, likes to give breaks in long classes and lets you out early.

Salomon's class ended up being one of my top 5 trinity classes. At first I thought it was going to be boring (I did fall asleep often), but the material was good and the essays are easy to write. He grades leniently but not so much that everyone gets an A. Take him if you need an english class that won't be a huge headache.

Dr. Salomon is one of the smartest, most well-read mothers you will ever meet. His IQ has got to be like 180+. Probably higher. He can spin terrific, bizzare, and yet convincing arguments with such coolness and ease, just to put pressure on you and your own interpretation. If we lived in Plato's Republic, Salomon would be the Philosophy King.
