If you like politics or history, this class is awesome. It is the history of the United States taught through elections. A very interesting way to do so. Lichtman is awesome. He lectures a lot but is very entertaining. You get the questions for the exams beforehand. Textbooks are useless. Just pay attention to the lectures.

Comment:

Very good professor. Intelligent and well-spoken. Knowledgable about current politics as well as Presidential history. Tests are not too bad as long as you study the terms that he gives you on the review sheet. Definitely recommend it for history or poly-sci majors.

He's fascinating. I'm not a history major but Presidential Elections may have been the best class I have taken at AU. Everyone is right books= pointless. Take Lichtman, and watch the video of him on YouTube, you wont be disappointed!

Lichtman is arrogant, obnoxious, and cocky. He talks about himself and he is a chronic name-dropper. Nevertheless, I love the guy. Sitting in class I can't help but like him. As long as you understand what you're getting into, I'd definitely recomend him. The class was really easy, and the books were useless. Easy A.

He is an arrogant professor who can't help but mention his connections during class. Lectures without any respect to the students in terms of taking a break. The TA does all the grading and makes all the lectures for the powerpoints. Think twice before taking this course as there are many other more bennifical classes in the department.

HE IS HILARIOUS! Dont take his classes if you hate history/lecture though - he makes it fun but you have to be prepared to come to class. Dont bother with readings, except novels (for women in america)...exams are tough, but I learned a lot.

For Women in America just buy the fiction/novels, you wont need anything else. Take copious notes, but its history so if you skip class a lot you will not do well. His classes and funny and insightful. I transferred out of AU but this man pretty much made my year worthwhile.

My best suggestion for getting a grade of C or higher in this class is to go to EVERY class and write down EVERY piece of information in detail. I loved the class because it was insightful, but if I missed one class, I would be screwed on notes for the midterm or final.

its history so yes, its a lot of information to memorize. Go to every class and take incredible notes and youll never have to open a book.Hes an amazing lecturer too!The class is an easy A, only IF you go to class and study your ass off for the midterm nfinal (50% of your grade) not bad if u ask me.

Not gonna lie, I have a 3.82 GPA now, but I have D average in this class. Every single class is completely lecture. The only good class was when his wife came in and talked to us. He's a nice guy, don't get me wrong, but I don't feel like he cares about his students and how they do.

I bought his CDs on the American Presidency. Can't figure out why he considers some of the presidents "great" - obviously enamored by Kennedy who is rarely considered "great". Needs to learn how to lecture w/o using the word "would" - the simple past would be easier to listen to!

Don't like him at all. Why does he always mention the fact that he is on CNN? My Mom can't stand him when she sees him on TV - says he's way too full of himself, and doesn't know a whole lot. Don't take any classes with him - he sucks!

U.S Presidential elections class: definitely a fun class to take during the election! His book is our textbook, which can be annoying, and of course he does explain why he is RIGHT and the "keys" CONTROL ALL, but he is hilariously entertaining.
