Comment:

Armsted was a diamond in the rough. A hidden gem at Berklee for sure. This man had been in the music industry for so long that he didn't have time for the BS, so to speak. He told me like it was, and to always stay true to myself and to do what felt good vocally. I was crushed to hear about his passing. His legacy will live on. Peace and Light.

This was my first ensemble at Berklee and it was one of the toughest classes I've ever taken. HOWEVER, I learned so much from him and he's a genuine teacher that pushes his students to grow not only as musicians but as people of character. I learned a lot about the techniques behind jazz scatting.

This man has by far been the most influential private instruction teacher I've had here. He makes me look forward to going to his class and really inspires me to improve my individual style. Although the semester isn't super structured, it gives you the opportunity to work with a lot of repertoire!! Highly recommend Armsted!!

If you talk bad about Armsted then there's something wrong with you. Inspiring. Loves his students. Knows how to sing and GREAT teacher. My second father here at Berklee.If you have a problem he will support you and he will keep on teaching for a few more minutes if time is up. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED for jazz,rock,r&b,gospel and soul. Not classical.

I love him! He's an amazing man! He can be unclear at times and a little inconsistent, but you will have a blast in class and he will encourage you. You'll figure things out in the end and enjoy it. I learned more from the experience of the class than by him instructing us.

Armsted was the best teacher for me. he not only helped me tremendously as a vocalist, he also helped to keep you inspired and had a genuine interest on how you are doing in other classes offering suggestions and helpful solutions. He cares about the total development of the musician. Skill, technique, mental strength, and emotional well-being.

Very helpful at the beginning, increasingly less tolerant of mistakes toward the end. Good singer and musician. Very imprecise and unclear on technical topics and terms. Very picky about using his specific lead sheet style, which he keeps changing.
