Comment:

I took Dr. Leonardi for Astronomy in spring 2020. All these reviews seem old, and I will say he has definitely changed since these. His class was HARD. He is the only astronomy professor at Upstate, so basically, I would skip taking astronomy if you have the option. Not sure where his exams come from, but it sure is not the notes or the textbook.

Comment:

He give you a study guide for his test but when he passes the test out, there 4 different ones and only one study guide. He treats his student like there stupid and he takes forever to answer back in a email. I would not take a class with him unless you want to cry everyday!

While he is a okay professor, his classes are freaking hard! I studied for days for my first test and made a D. His class is almost always lecture, but he does give you the notes. If you do not read you WILL NOT PASS!!!!!!!!!!! if your having to take a lab though his is really easy. Quizzes for the labs are just questions are you handout.

Dr. Leonardi is an EXCELLENT professor. He really knows his stuff and is concerned with student success. I took him for Physics 2 over the summer. He was very engaged and made it a point to make sure the material was as understandable as possible. His tests are very difficult but he is very lenient with grading.

Comment:

This class was supposed to be an easy A. He gives an sample example before the test which are designed to "help" you, but they do the opposite. He is also very sarcastic which makes it harder to listen to his lectures. Oh yeah, the class IS ALL LECTURES!! I would definitely recommend taking another science if your a non-science major!

This professor is super chill and wants his students to engage and be successful. If you aren't into physics he tries to make you like it, but he doesn't force you to participate or anything like that. The quizzes can really help your grade if you do well. Overall, show up to class and do good on test and quizzes and you'll pass easily.

Uses blackboard for all grades so you always know where you stand. Rewards for improving on tests. The subject matter is fascinating and you can tell he loves it. Favorite class of the semester. Got a B. Homework can be tricky.

Leonardi is knowledgable. His lectures are on powerpoint and he moves very quickly. It can be overwhelming at times but he provides copies of the powerpoints. The weekly quizzes are easy. If you study the powerpoints and the practice test you'll make a B easy. Homework is frustrating. He will reward you for improving test grades. Overall good class

Took him for Physics. Good class and great teacher. Keeps it interesting. I bought the book and never opened it. He gives you powerpoints which is all you need. Quizzes were the hardest part for me. I averaged a 80 on quizzes but got a 94 in class. He is very good with Blackboard, you always know what is going on.

Great professor. Very eager to help his students. His lectures are interesting. He has a way of taking the toughest topic and breaking it down to the basic level. You MUST attend class to pass since tests are from lecture notes. Tests are difficult so you must study. He expects you to think, just memorizing will not make the grade.

Leonardi is the man...very nice guy and a very good instructor. He really knows how to explain even very complicated topics, and he will help you however he can.
