Took HIST 3340. Dr. Ehlers made it interesting & very enjoyable. He goes beyond just traditional lectures and really gives you an understanding of the period. Would definitely take any of his other classes.

I like Dr. Ehlers. I can't imagine him ever being angry. I thought the FYOS was boring at first, but playing the game made it a lot better. One problem was he never graded anything until the very end, so I couldn't tell if I was doing a good job or not. I finished with a straight up 93

Ehlers is funny, patient, understanding, and an expert on the topic. He gives good lectures and tries to present the information in the best way possible. There is a ton of reading for the class but as long as you do like 1/2 to 3/4 of and pay attention during lectures you will do fine.

FCID2000 is really only class discussions based on very little prior reading. The discussions are interesting, though, and participation isn't required; only attendance.

Prof Ehlers is very kind and helpful. He wants you to enjoy the class & answers any questions you have. He is available outside of class and tries his best to work with his students. He understands that students have other things happening in their lives. He assigns some easy homework and only gives a few, relatively easy graded assignments.

Dr. Ehlers is very passionate about his work. This class ran as a debate rathered than a lecture class. However, he does lecture one or twice a week and on Fridays we had workshops. Get ready to read. We ran a total of 6 books and over 15 articles online. we had two test and two papers, they weren't hard, just study and you'll be fine.

Comment:
The FYOS was Transnational Europe. Dr. Ehlers was passionate about the topic, but it was just not what I thought the class was going to be. I was expecting a general view of Europe but instead we learned about Charles Darwin and debated about evolution. This class was a drag but if you participate then you can get an A. It's not the easiest FYOS.

I highly recommend taking Dr. Ehlers. The class was mostly based on two tests and two papers, but they weren't difficult. He incorporates video and discussion into his lectures, which kept me engaged throughout the 2-hour summer class. You have to work in his class, but it's manageable and you learn a lot. Take his classes.

Very good at giving interesting presentations and very knowledgeable in his field. He has pretty high standards for his students, but he makes you want to meet them and will help you reach them. Has very cool assignments for the FYOS as well.

Dr. Ehlers is an amazing professor! Very interesting. He always used photos, drawings, video clips, and music to spice it up. I only ever had to ask a clarification question once. Good paper feedback, very helpful. I don't usually like group work at all, but the Friday group workshops were actually easy and interesting, not busywork or pointless.

Dr. Ehlers is one of the best history professors at UGA. You will NOT be disappointed! His lectures are interesting and enjoyable. His grading is VERY fair, and he is so helpful. I took him for an upper level class on Spain, and learned so much. I promise, you will not be disappointed with Dr. Ehlers. He is awesome!

This class was interesting every single day. Dr. Ehlers' lectures were clear and easy to follow, and he integrates a lot of music and movie clips into class. The outside reading got a bit dry at times, but it was doable. Tests are easy if you study a lot and take good notes; essays are a bit harder but nothing crazy. Great, great class.

Absolutely amazing. Incredibly knowledgeable regarding material and obviously a genius. Lectures were clear and INTERESTING. He made a 2.5 hour a day summer course fly by. Easy to talk to and you know what to expect. Hard but fair grader. Work and you'll see results. Go talk to him! SUPER nice. An absolute gem for this university.

Great professor who really cares about his students. His lectures are very organized and tests always come from the notes. Attend class! Don't have to do all the readings but the majority is necessary. Not to bad to get a B but really hard to get an A. Class was interesting and highly recommend.

Dr. Ehlers is a good teacher who is very interested in his field. Pay attention to the songs at the beginning of class. Be prepared to read and write a lot. 3 Tests are essay, plus two paper. Easy to get a B, but very hard to get an A. Interesting enough.
