Comment:

Had Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and Marching Band with Benjy. Benjy is a fantastic teacher, the problem isn't with him. The problem is that the majority of GC Music Students don't practice, don't show up on time, and don't care. With that said, if you take him and his class seriously- he'll take you seriously as he did for me and many others.

Comment:

I was a little dissapointed when I recieved an A- for my grade. I showed up to class prepared, did everything I was told and was there everyday. I missed one class before a performance due to illness. And he through a fit. Needless to say I am never taking that class again.

Comment:

I have had Mr. Springs as a teacher for 6 years and he is an amazingly talented musician and a great teacher. Although his teaching methods, as someone said "primary", are not up to others standards, I think for having a 50-60 piece band with people who are not music majors he does an amazing job. I think people need to cut the man a break.

I think he is a really cool guy, that has done all he can with the mus. department at G.C. Though the band is small, he pushes us to excell at anything we do, and people only down him because they got fussed at for not giving a damn.

I was very dissappointed with his class. I had heard so much about the legendary Benjy Springs, but once I got to class I felt like I was in high school band all over again. Even the concepts that he tries to teach are very basic and elementary, and the band sounded worse than my high school wind ensemble. Needless to say, I transferred.

He's a hilarious guy and a talented musician. I'm glad to have him as a professor and a friend. Benjy makes music @ GC... well, interesting to say the least.

Comment:

The Notorious B.E.N.J.Y. is about as cool as they come. He gets about a fourth of the respect he deserves, but still produces the results. Make sure you don't call him Big Poppa......just Big Daddy.
