Professor Rothermel teaches you important speech skills that you can use regardless of your major. In my opinion, public speech is one of the most important skills that you will use in your career. The class structure is straight-forward with four big speeches during the semester.

Beth is a really good professor and I learned a ton in her class. Although there is a lot of work, it is all interesting and the class has definitely made me more confident in public speaking. Her feedback is all relevant and she cares about your grade. The grading is reasonable, and you will get an A if you participate a lot in class.

Highly recommend! Rothermel is one of the only professors who truly cares about her students and their growth. Speeches were not intimidating and it felt like I was just talking to the class. She made me feel comfortable talking in front of people. She does give a good amount of work but it's super easy if you keep up with it. She grades ON TIME!

This class is a fun and interactive speech class. I have heard from multiple people that Beth is the best choice for a speech teacher. Basically have 3 speeches throughout the semester and she guides you along the way and a lot of preparation work is done. TED talks seem to be her favorite thing so get ready to watch those and answer questions.

Overall, she does make you work for the grade, so there's a LOT of reading and writing involved that can be a bit challenging at times; she's clear when helping most of the time. Her final projects can be challenging, but worth the effort. The class was enjoyable for the most part, and included EVERYONE, so shy people may have a tough time.

Rothermel is a good teacher for speech. Basically just 4 speeches in front of a small class for the entire semester. The rest of the time is watching youtube videos and easy writing. Not hard if you participate and have no issues talking in front of people.

She treats her class as if it is the only one you are taking. She is very helpful at times, and is willing to help students; however, the work load seems insurmountable at times. You can learn a lot, but be prepared for stress and a heavy work load.

If you like writing by the book with no insight, don't take her class. She likes the process over the product. Its more important for you to "grow as a writer" than to write 10 pages of noble winning work. She's definitely helped my writing a lot, although sometimes I get frustrated because I've never written this way before.

she was alright. ive had better teacers before. she gives you false hope about our writing when you have "conferences" about your paper only to trash your paper once you hand it in. She's a lot of usless work. get another professor if you can. she was nice though.
