Comment:

I took basic, 1301, 1302, American Lit etc. A c plus was the best I could do. So why did I rate him so high, two reasons. First I made near perfect grades in research papers in my other classes at U of H. A friend of mine just started college and asked me to rate his final paper. He had never heard of Strunk and White. Extremely intelligent.

Very difficult teacher, so it is almost required to make an appointment with him to work on work on your essays. Very smart and intelligent man. I do not recomend him unless you are a english major or if you really want a challenge.

Dr. Harrison is very intelligent and well informed about English. I enjoyed attending his class. DO NOT take his class if you are a lazy, unmotivated procrastinator. DO NOT take his class if you have horrible grammar or a weak vocabulary. Make an effort and actually go to his office to have him check your rough draft, EXTREMELY HELPFUL!

All of you who said these bad things about Dr Harrison obviously haven't been challenged in English. When I took his class this past Fall semester I was thinking "What did I get in to?" but you know what, by the end of the semester I came out of his class knowing so much more. I love Dr Harrison. He's my favorite professor now. By far the most intelligent teacher I've had. He knows his stuff. Just do your work & ask him for help & believe me you'll be fine.

I am not taking Dr. Harrison this semester but simply passing him in the hall motivated me to come on here and warn you. I took him last term... Run! He absolutely ruined my last semester and made me 2nd guess my major. A rambling, unorganized, pretentious, joke of a professor. Go ahead and take him... it's your life. I promise you'll regret it.

His class is a little tough but you definitely have to apply yourself. This is not a class to slack off in. You have to work hard in there to receive an A (VERY rare) or a B. Your grades come from 3 or 4 essays, a research paper & a final & thats it. You'll definitely know how to write when you're done taking his class. He's a very smart man & he's willing to help. You'll definitely know what's going on in the world because he'll keep you updated lol.

Alright look folks, I understand that Mr. Harrison is an extremely hard professor and I know that it's inconceivable that he would actually require you to work hard...but guess what? That's life! I was excited to take a class with a professor that I heard was tough because I love to write and my comp 1 professor didn't challenge me at all. This class was a joke! If you still can, DROP IT! There is absolutely no room for creativity in his classroom. The people who wrote reviews on here that said he was tough but good, are absolute MORONS!

I actually love to write essays and articles so I was excited when I heard this professor was a little tough. I quickly found Mr. Harrison to be rambling, unorganized, unhelpful, and terrible at staying on topic and covering material in a timely manner. He truly made this course miserable and I would recommend you take anyone over him. Good luck!

Dr. Harrison is a very knowledgeable professor who expects a lot from his students. You must read the book and be prepared for class discussions. The class was very hard, but I learned how to write at at a much better level.Appointments with him + writing center are a necessity. You will become a better writer if you put the effort to do so.

I found Mr. Harrison disrespectful, rude, intimidating, disorganized, and very unclear. I ended up dropping his class because I felt I wasn't getting anything from it. He gave vague assignments and then graded them extremely hard. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Insanity. That is what you will feel after a semester with this instructor. If you can avoid him, do yourself a favor and do so. I would tell you to run away screaming, and that would be good advice as well, but total insanity says it better. If you take him, get yourself some good meds.
