Comment:

Professor Mahop is really sweet, but he teaches something so simple in the most complicated way. ALEKS will make or break your grade. I stress that you do the supplementary assignments on ALEKS because they do count towards your grade despite Professor Mahop stating otherwise. All quizzes and exams including the final were taken on ALEKS.

Comment:

Mahop is a nice man, but a terrible professor. Pls steer clear. Many times I'd ask for help and he'd direct me to ALEKS (which he didn't understand was irrelevant to what we were learning in class because ALEKS is essentially self-paced). He loves to give pop quizzes and he held class during Spring Fest and took points off your grade for skipping.

He is not an easy teacher, but he is caring and wants you to pass. Make sure to go to class and if you fail an exam, ask for a possible retake. Go to office hours and practice on the Aleks.

Professor Mahop is clearly very good at math so he sort of assumes that his students are too. He definitely gives help if he notices you are trying, but he still teaches simple math concepts in a very difficult way. He's a nice professor but I would not recommend his class.

Nice person but at the midterm, 3 out of 50 students had a C or less. Ended up with a D in Algebra I and a B in Algebra II with another professor. Although he is knowledgeable, it would be advantageous for him to learn how to teach the Algebra I material better.

Comment:

Mahop is a great ally to have. If you go to class and he recognizes your face/who you are, you will undoubtedly pass. He looks out for those who put in effort. He is very funny outside of class and a very thoughtful person. His tests/quiz are straightforward. I was pretty much failing during the semester for who knows why but I ended up with an A.

If you already understand the information you'll be fine. If not, you are better off using Khan Academy to learn everything in tandem with Aleks or just taking this over summer at community college. He teaches as if you know the info and the tests are always very hard; honestly the final felt easy by comparison. Avoid if you can.

This man is actually the GOAT. All he asks is that you actively participate in class. He drops the lowest test and he walks you through an example of the problem right before he gives the quiz on it.

Two words... TAKE HIM!!! You will not regret it. You do however have to attend class and PARTICIPATE! Just do everything you are suppose to and it will work out. He's a great professor and his test and quizzes come directly from examples from class!

I am not good at math AT ALL, but Dr. Mahop was such a good teacher who explained well and took his time doing so! I recommend him to everyone. Participation and attendance matters heavily. His tests and quizzes are directly from what is covered in class. We had a few take home exams. Definitely take him, over the summer especially!!!

Well I like the subject so it was relatively simple for me and easy to follow along but a lot of people in my class who aren't strong in math had a really hard time and found it even worst b/c he is hard to understand and isn't very helpful...Best bet is to get a study partner but the math is not that hard

Def not easy A but not an impossible one eitha. (living proof n i am no math genius). u need to go to his office. show the effort. Do problems in the textbook, they r on the test. He's realli intelligent, but ur class is gonna have over 100 ppl so make sure u get that individual attention. Math is somethin u need to practice

Do not take his class! I would only recommend if you are a math genius. He expects people to be as intelligent as him when it comes to math. He is not understanding at all. You miss a test or quiz for any reason you get a zero. AND u cant hardly understand him with his accent!Class almost made me lose my scholarship!!!

If you are okay to good at Math, then Mahop is a good teacher for you. Most people say not to take him, but I did and his class was easy. If you pay attention in class and read over your notes then you should do fine. His test are made from problems similar to the notes and text book. Attend class, and visit his office.

You can tell that he is a very smart man, but he just assumes everyone else is just as knowledgeable as he is about math. If you have thorough knowledge in this subject you will be fine, but if u have never done things like parabolas and matrices before you need a better teacher

His lectures are pointless. I had to teach myself from the book the whole time. He gives you homework and extra assignments to improve your grade but no extra credit. He is very boring. I would NOT take another class with him, especially Algebra II
