SOC 101 IS typically a 16 week course but I completed it within a month and got an A. Personally, I did not find the course that difficult, Kooros is an excellent lecturer and I was able to get the highest grade in the class just from listening to him speak (I never studied). He doesn't like giving Fs so he will work hard to help you succeed.

Skip class, you literally won't pass. I didn't show up to class after the midterm, and I was kicked out of my group project. Keep in mind that this group project was outside work, and I kept in contact with my group, and did everything I needed to do. I received a 0 out of 100 out of a 300-point class. He seems nice, but can be mean.

All his classes have the same set up: Midterm, Group Project, & Optional Final. He allows a notecard for the 5 questions he gives for the exams. He randomly picks 3 of them. You will need the book for these exams. He lectures aren't very helpful, but sometimes you'll need them to answer parts of the exam questions. But, piece of cake. Took SOC216 2

Professor Mahmoudi had one of the most interesting sociology classes I have taken thus far. It is heavy on discussions which makes it extremely fun and interesting. He provides an environment for students to succeed. He is nice, understanding and always available if you have questions. 1 midterm, 1 group project, and optional final. Great class

My favorite professor at NAU. Super insightful human. You will really learn some profound stuff from Kooros if you get engaged with class. Expects hard work from you, especially on research papers, but is willing to give feedback and will overlook your paper before you submit it. Tests are not bad at all as long as you come to class and listen.

professor Mahmoudi was an exceptional teacher. I loved having him and he made class fun and interesting. I learned a lot and loved the group projects ( and I dislike group projects just as much as the next person). i would take him for all my classes if I could.

8 weeks: attendance, 1 midterm, 1 group presentation, & optional final. The group--like always--was frustrating, but no quizzes for readings, no HW, test questions are given a week early, grades groups on whole and individual. NEED textbook for midterm & final; assigned readings every week, never did anything with them. Helpful and hilarious.

Definitely loved this class; take Soc 101 or any sociology class with him because he is a sociology guru. His lectures are awesome; his tests are easy and it's just a good experience overall.

Great teacher. I had an early class and tended to doze off in his lectures, which I felt horrible about. Regardless of that, he was a very good lecturer and was very helpful with understanding concepts. He seems to really enjoy what he teaches. Tests are fairly straightforward, and are rather easy if you read the books thoroughly.

Amazing professor! He really does care about his students and their progress. He cracks jokes all the time and makes class interesting. He made dinner for our whole class at his place and it was so much fun. We just hung out and had some traditional food. Amazing!!

Great teacher - Turned a somewhat boring subject into a very interesting class period. Made a promise at the start of the year that he would take you out to lunch if you got 100% on a test - And he kept his word! Good taste in food, too ;).
