Took her for Spring 2020, during COVID. Rambles a lot. Had to buy the book w access code for online lab. We only did chapters 1-5 for the whole semester... HW was to complete the chapters n write characters 10-20 times w pinyin n tones. Gives many chances to bump grades with corrections. Test are easy if you study. My first A.

Took her back in fall 2015. The only thing that I don't like about this professor is that when most students are late to class, the lectures would be extended. This happens if you have lab before lectures and there is only 10 minutes to head to class. However, the lecture is on a different building which takes a lot of time to head there.

She spent most of her class time promoting her clubs and talking about how to be a great leader instead of teaching Chinese. Also she never came to class on time.

She spends a lot time on one chapter and talks nonsense things. She made me feel uncomfortable in class because she talks about racism base on my culture in class.

Very unorganized. Does not make grading criteria clear enough. If you take a look at her reviews from Fordham University, they state she played favorites. It is true, she favors the males of the class. If you work hard, she will take notice but will expect the world of you. I survived this class only because I took Mandarin before in 7th grade.

Hate this prof, dont take her!!! I dont understand anything that she was saying.... always make a big deal out of everything... she spent 5 classes in one lesson but she keep reading the same thing over and over again, it seems like she forgot what she did from the previous class.

She gives random quizzes, speaks too fast at times, rarely assigns homework, expects you to know how to write in pinyin and characters both a must. Lectures weren't organized. Goes off topic a lot. You do the most writing in the lab not lecture mostly speaking. You may think she is easy, but you need to know your Chinese if you want to survive.

If you don't have any previous Mandarin experience, I would not recommend her. She gets off topic easily and the majority of examples she gives, she doesn't write on the board. She's a tough grader but she allows corrections. She's a nice lady, but not a good professor. If you are willing to take the class, ALWAYS study and practice writing.

Horrible professor! Expects you to read textbook everyday. Weekly quizzes. She expects you to come to class on time but she is always late. If you don't bring your textbook she takes 30 points off your grade. Reads everything out of the textbook and doesn't give us any in-class practice. Goes off topic and teaches other languages. Picks favorites.

Her Mandarin 2 class is very heavy on pronunciation of the tones. You must be involved and do all homework assigned. There will be a lot of room for discussion on all types of topics surrounding Chinese radicals, tones, and language. She also helps students with getting involved with clubs. She is such a nice lady and gives a lot of leeway to all.

I think Prof. Jenner was harder on the students of Chinese descent than those who were not. Basically what she thought of you was her grade for you. Sometimes the class would seem like ENG class since she grades people on English grammar when it's a Chinese class. And if you could name pandas and what zoos they came from that would mean extra pts.

I admit she is not the best teacher, but I can't stand when students blaming her without willing to learn. Someone take 101 course even they are fluent, that's because they think it would be easy credits, right? If you know Chinese well already, & she asks to learn simplified or traditional, it is pretty fair. I got A without attending her clubs.
