Definitely hard but 100% worth it. You can tell she really wants students to understand the material. Definitely tons of textbook use and in class assignments are a big portion of your grade. I wish she taught more classes so I could take her next semester too!

Prof. Stearns is so great. She is enthusiastic about the subject, so it really encouraged me to learn. She is easy to talk to, and makes it a priority to answer any questions before/after tests and quizzes. She's easy if you study, but she really does make you work for an A. If you're looking for a chill, easy-A class; don't take this.

Professor Sterns is a fantastic psych professor. Extremely knowledgeable, nice, and is always there to help you. Don't expect the class to be an easy A. She allows cheat sheets on exams, but you still need to study the chapters and do the online hw every singe night. You will have to earn your A.

Yeah her class is really hard and you have a lot of work to do but she is hands down one of the best teachers at MC. . She is also very nice and extremely helpful. Dr. Stearns is a wonderful professor, if you are willing to work hard I highly recommend taking her class.

I took this class in the Winter 2010 session. A very intelligent, competent and caring teacher. I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed her class, despite the endless reading and frenetic pace. As noted by another poster, she handled some "overzealous" students gracefully. Tests were fair, mostly multiple choice, few short answer. Would take again.

I took human sexuality with Dr. Stearns and it was hard as crap. However, Dr. Stearns is totally rad. She's super funny (I def laughed until I had tears more than a couple of times) and she knows nearly everything you'd ever want to know about psychology (and if she doesn't, she'll find out). Take Dr. Stearns' class. Do it.

I really enjoyed this professor, although she expects the students to take her class seriously. You MUST read the assigned chapters or you will not get a good grade. The test material is all covered in her lectures and in the book. Overall, she is funny and serious at the same time. I don't recommend this class for lazy students.

This prof is AWESOME, although i don't know yet if i got an A for sure, hopefully i do cause i'm borderline, I still think that this prof is a really fun and interesting teacher. I am 100% satisfied with all my exams, and if i didn't do well I know why. This class is a step up from High school, so be prepared for a college experience.

RUUUUUN! She allows you to use a "cheat sheet" but it DOES NOT help! Close to impossible tests. She explains in the first class that if you aren't serious about psych, it isn't the class for you. Honestly, it's an intro to psych class, right?!I ended up dropping and going with another prof who was SO much better, got an A, AND I actually learned!

attendance not mandatory, but she does take off points for every absence, which can lower your grade significantly. this was a hard course. must read one textbook chapter a week, roughly 30-50 pages. quizzes every week. lots of note taking each class. 4 exams but you are allowed a cheat sheet.

Prof. Stearns really REALLY knows her stuff. She always bases her information on facts and she provides all the information you need. She is very organized, always enthusiastic and makes the class very interesting and fun. You might be a little shy in this class, at first, but it's an open-to-discussion class and you will like it :)

It is rare to find a professor as committed and enthusiastic about teaching as Prof. Stearns. She will stay way after class on a weeknight just to answer your questions, either academic or personal. It's a hard course, but the self-quizzes help, and the lectures clarify well. Lots of ex. credit. She goes above and beyond the call of duty.
