Comment:

Professor Blanco's online instruction is set up so that you do not have to attend the Zoom sessions, but I highly suggest you do. I attended all the ones that I could and she helps with any confusion you may have. Also, by attending you are showing effort, and she will be more likely to change your grade at the end of the semester if needed.

Comment:

Blanco was one of my favorite teachers solely because of how organized and concise her class was. Attending class is not mandatory as she only uses it to answer questions. Its incredibly lecture heavy, but as long as you keep up the information is easy to learn and the homework is fairly easy. If you like independent learning take SCM200 with her!

Comment:

The lectures were clear but the homework was often very different. She goes on her phone during Zoom discussions and refuses to answer questions if the student doesn't specify they already checked their notes. I emailed her many times and got back generic, unhelpful responses. She told everyone that Exam 2 grades WILL drop 10% and didn't offer help

The material is kinda tricky, but she does a good job explaining it. There is a couple of homework and exams in the course. She is a great teacher and very understanding. The exams are difficult if you don't pay attention in class and study.

Comment:

This is an extremely challenging class, with 85% of the class being graded solely off exams (including a final worth 25%) and 15% homework, which are graded stringently. Therefore, there is no room for error, and messing up on an exam can prove to be detrimental in this class. Also there was no curve for my class. Hardest ETM class you will take!

This class is basically strictly lecture. You sit in class she just talks. She doesn't stop for questions and basically just runs through the material until time is up. You are graded 60% on the main exams 15% on homework and 25% on the final. That's it. There are office hours and labs for questions. Its a hard class but its manageable.

Marilyn Blanco is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is extremely organized, and she cares about her students. Her tests are straight forward from the sample exam questions. She is always available during office hours and labs, and she makes class the concepts to understand. Would take any class with her. Take her class!!

Marilyn is a legitimate queen! She is the sweet professor I have ever had and is really there to help you get through this difficult course. She is extremely repetitive when we should know things for the exam and all of the exams are fair game. Overall I would definitely take Marilyn again just because of how caring she is towards her students. <33

She's very difficult and a really tough grader. I was doing very well in class because I went every day. I skipped like 4 classes because it wasn't mandatory and my grade went from an A to a C+ because she refuses to help people who skipped class. Def study for exams through in class exercises.

Comment:

Marilyn is an absolute gem and really wants to help you succeed. However, you will have to work hard for it. Her exams take up most of the weight when it comes to grades but as long as you study you'll be fine. Not a mandatory class, however skipping it will only hurt you. Take lots of notes and write down all the problems she gives.

She is not the most engaging but she is very straight forward with class and what is expected. Attend class, follow the packet, do the limited homework ,and you can do well with relative ease.

Going to give it to you straight. Go to every lecture and just write the notes down and try to understand the overall concepts of what shes teaching. Lectures are VERY dry. Then make sure you go to Liontutors, they lay everything out for you perfectly to understand the material. Tests are easy but very tricky, the T/F section is very tricky.

Marilyn has a set schedule for the class that turns into a routine. If your struggling, she is happy to help and wants the whole class to get a good grade. Marilyn is an amazing teacher and one of my favorites!

Marilyn does a great job explaining the material. Classes can get a little boring, but that is understandable because of the subject. If you do not understand a particular topic in class, go to office hours and she will do all she can to help you understand it.

Marilyn is an excellent teacher. Her tests are straight up just her packet questions with different numbers. Her lectures highlight the important parts of concepts that she always includes in her tests. If you attend her lectures and actually study this class isnt hard at all. The people complaining here are just dumb.

HOW TO GET AN A, you never need to go to class if you can get the homework somehow, all you gotta do is go to liontutors for each test and it will be a breeze. I never missed a class and I can tell you right now that it only helped with doing hw. Shes got a weird teaching style that doesnt work for me but liontutors lays everything out perfectly.

Comment:

The assignments are very clear for this class. Blanco's labs are just office hour, so this class is definitely not time-consuming. However, her lectures are not interesting. It is hard to focus sometimes because of the way she talks and her tone. The test is nearly exactly what she talked about during class, nothing unexpected.

Comment:

SCM 200 with Blanco has the potential to be incredibly easy. She doesn't require attendance which is nice but it is important to attend to actually be able to understand the material. She has specific due dates, she gives you 6 classes off due to exam time, and her lab is optional and is used to pick up and check answers on HW and exams.
