Such a charismatic and sweet prof! Had him for HNR151-2 and loved his hands-on, alternative approach to learning. It was a very easy credit, as long as you participate in discussions you'll pass.

David is probably the nicest prof i've had. Even as an online course he is super sweet and encouraging with his feedback. You have a reading assignment once a week throughout the entire semester. The readings are actually super interesting and not boring at all. I enjoyed the class much more than I thought I was going to. 12/10

I was genuinely confused by the goals of this class. There was not one discussion on how to write better in a "Writing in French" class, it was all history or video games. Would dismiss or roll eyes at some students but listen attentively to the concerns of others when we tried to clarify what we were supposed to do for the class. Spacey too.

Comment:
David is an okay professor. I took his Spanish 380 class in Spain this summer. He expected way too much for a 1 credit class. We always had to prepare a speech for every class, and he was not very clear on what the speeches needed to be about. He gave us a grade for each speech, but he never gave any feedback on it. The final exam was easy though.

Really nice, energetic guy who obviously wants you to succeed in spoken French. I found the class really difficult but he makes all the grading criteria very clear which is awesome. I'd love to take him for a lit class sometime, very intelligent professor. Its unclear what material to study for which class though, so quizzes sunk my grade.

Professor Eick is one of the most understanding professors. He truly cares about his students learning, and the things he teaches are always relevant. My biggest complaint is that he is always busy and almost never responds to emails, and you can only visit his office hours for about fifteen minutes. Overall, you won't regret taking his class.

He assigns a lot of homework (be prepared to read and do an intense analysis), but it's evident that he genuinely cares about the well-being of his students. Oftentimes he asks his students directly if he's assigning too much at the time, and if they agree, he will cut back. Despite the workload, I highly recommend taking this class.

They assign a lot of literature and you do read a lot of it. There's a lot of quizzes but we were able to use our books during them. Also, you play a lot of RTTP games which are super fun!! He loves to give feedback and loves having people come to office hours. Warning: he is super spacey but super lovable!

Prof Eick is a great guy that genuinely cares about his students in and outside of class. He is always looking to assist them in the present and future. He makes you work, but the content is presented in a fun way, and none of the assignments are too stressful. Overall, would recommend taking him and the EuroCiv sequence.

I absolutely loved having Professor EIck! Such a genuine, caring professor who really pushes you to be the absolute best you can. My honors sequence was my favorite class freshman year because of him. It's hard work, but he makes the class so much fun with the games!

Good prof, you do the work he will give you the grade. Overall easier grader, yet depending on the time of year he is hard to get to help you (very busy, and office hours aren't always clear). Overall great guy, would take again!

Dr. Eick was very helpful with questions a student had. He is most interested in the perspective that the individual student brings to the course; not which answers are rightwrong. I've never been as passionate about a course than I am with this one. Eick pushed students to go out of our comfort zone with assignments & in class. Highly recommend!

Professor Eick was great! He's a quirky guy but he's extremely nice, helpful, and understanding. It is necessary to put forth an effort to get an A in the class, but he is there to help every step of the way!

Prof Eick could always tell if I was stressed and would continually offer extra help. Once he even gave me his office number after I sent him a very worried email about an essay. He told me to call him and that we would talk over everything and figure out a plan. He is definitely my favorite professor.

Dr. Eick is a marvelous man. He truly cares for his students, and he always asked me how I was doing when I was going through a rough time last spring. I knew I enjoyed literature before, but his encouragement has inspired me to consider adding an English major/minor. He loves to challenge his students and then watch as they grow into scholars.

One of my favorite teachers. He gives a lot of work and expects the most out of his students, but he really cares about how they do and gives great feedback. The best part about him is that he is very straight forward and speaks his mind while keeping a professional tone.

He gives way to much homework and expects you to learn everything on your own. He took away my love of French. The only grades are midterm, final, and pop quizzes. Class was fun, however, with many activities and student interactions.
