Comment:
The most influential professor I have ever had. If it wasn?t for him I would have believed I was completely inept at writing after the abuse I had taken from other professors. Amazing that after one class with him I received A?s in the rest of my literature classes. He is brilliant in the way he parallels literature and life.

This class was a huge circle of confusion on the subject of Irish Literature. The man's ego, clearly, is part of your grade. Humor him and try to understand his sporadic and spontaneous gists of Irish history, but you still won't get an A. 3 or 4 papers that he grades on the fly, and won't tell you why unless you want to spend an hour his office.

He has a passion for literature but also quite a big ego, so you should mainly expect to hear him spout his own opinions (not necessarily bad, but don't expect to get to disagree). He can be disorganized because he's so busy, but he writes great recommendations and helps a lot with career advancement.

I hate to be biased but the man is my mentor. This guy can take any class, relate it perfectly, and talk to you like you're a human being. Any Irish Literature class, even the basic Lit. classes, were fantastic with this guy. If you have a chance take him (and it's not just me: he'll change your lif

Horrible teacher. He couldn't get more than 2 mins into a class w/o talking about how awesome he is or how he's a great published author. Avoid at all costs.

I loved him. He seemed intetionally vague at times, but so delightful to watch and listen to. His arrogance only added to his charm and appeal.
