Great teacher! Explained Russian in a way that made it so much easier to learn, and I truly enjoyed his class. He's also a very caring, nice, and funny man. Great guy!

His knowledge of Russian is simply amazing. And what's even more crucial, his ability to break it down and teach it to you is unmatched by anyone at SLU. He's very funny and easy to talk to, will work with you personally as much as you need, extremely understanding. Hands down my favorite professor

Comment:

Russian Civilization and Culture class was pretty interesting and easy. Take-home tests, funny readings about ancient Russian women, picture quizzes, etc. What I love about Dr. Murphy is that he still recognizes me two years later and asks how I'm doing.

My advisor for my three years. Incredible teacher. Conservative Catholic with unbelieveable work load. Take his classes and work hard because he demands that you learn the material but he will give you every chance to learn.

everyone i know loves this guy and now i know why. he's engaging, charming, wants kids to learn. sure, sometimes late, but unlike most teachers i don't mind sticking around. if you want a fun and unpredictble conversation chat with him outside class. likes beer and singing

Do you love churches?If you answered yea then this class is for you.You will see so many churches your mind will explode.However if you want to have a take home test be given to you on time don't expect it. But he never shows up on time.But if you need a good laugh he will make you chuckle.
