Comment:
Dr Gaillard is one of the worst professors Ive ever had. She does everything (homework, quizzes, tests) through a glitchy 3rd party program. She reads directly off the PowerPoints provided by the book and doesnt work out any math problems. She is defensive if you ask her a question. I got an A in the lab since the lab coordinator is professional.

I won't lie, this class was really difficult. I want to give her some slack because no matter what chemistry is hard, and because of social distancing we had to learn from our computer. I had a few issues, example the quizzes were locked after taking them so you couldn't study them, but she gave numerous xtra credit options, so it evens out.

This professor basically just reads off of her presentations. I learned more from reading the chapters than from her.

She is an okay professor. Lectures can be boring at times but she will throw in a few jokes to keep the class engaged. Tests can be a little difficult as she doesn't work out a lot of examples during lecture. However, she offers an absurd amount of extra credit and the lowest score of the tests is dropped.

She is not the best lecture professor I have seen. She does not work out a lot of examples, and assumes you know a lot of the background material. She uses MasteringChemistry for homework and quizzes. She writes her own exams. On the exams there is a good chance it will be calculations you don't know how to do.

I have some bad professors but she takes the cake. her voice literally puts you to sleep. She gets mad when you ask her a question. going to lecture is a waste of time because she just expects you to already have learned what she is talking about. do not take her for any class ever...

Her power points are not helpful, online homework is picky. She expects you to read ahead to learn on your own and she is just there to reinforce what you learned by reading the text book Tests are difficult and I feel like she does not teach, but is more there for guidance. Very nice lady, knows her stuff, and she cares about her students success.

She is one of the nicest people I have ever met, but the same cannot be aid about her class. I busted my butt, got 100% on all the homework, and I still did poorly on the tests. This class should not be taken lightly.

One of the better professors in Chem at NIU, but still hard. She gives extra credit, which helped my grade at the end. Her tests are hard and usually you don't have enough time for them. More than half the class is still working when she calls times up. You better show up or you won't pass.

Going to class and paying attention is mandatory. I recommend reading the section or chapter before coming to class and also printing her slides so you wont have to worry about missing information. She gives a lot of extra credit which is useful. Each exam is worth 100 points and has 25 multiple choice questions.

I really liked this class. While the lectures are straight from the powerpoint, its became the department tells her what to teach. She does break up the lectures from time to time with funny cat videospictures. An easy class if you are okay at memorization. Tests are 25 multiple choice questions worth 100 points overall. Gives LOTS of extra credit

This is not an easy class, but the lectures are very clear and lots of problems are worked in class and assigned after class. I appreciate that Dr. G. takes her time & cares that students really learn the concepts. To pass this class, it is absolutely necessary to go to class, read the book, do the problems, and stay on top of the material.

She was great! Made the material easy to understand and the tests were reasonable. I recommend that you actually read the book and attempt the homework problems on your own if you want to succeed. She also has office hours that you should take advantage of. Great semester!

Not sure why the negative reviews, she is a very nice teacher and is very helpful. Gave many extra credit opportunities and her grading scale was very forgiving. Would definitely take her again.

Having a lecture with her is a waste of time. She goes strictly by her powerpoints and does not stray from them. She rushes through example problems and is extremely rude if you are confused on where she came up with a number or how she came up with a chemical equation. Having her there is pretty much useless, her TA does all of the teaching.

I would highly recommend not taking her for class. She powerpoints you to death with endless information and expects you to memorize an insane amount of stuff. However, its not entirely her fault. The school demands she cover and insane amount of material in a short time. The class was one of the most frustrating I have ever had.

One of the worst experiences of my life. She was a horrible teacher. She did not curve the tests or the class. Our class average on the first test was a 43% and she said it was our fault. The class had about 150 students. She didn't teach us well. Her powerpoints were horrible and the tests were 5 questions 100 points. Do not take her as a teacher.

This lady cannot teach this class nor even have the slightest idea what to teach. I feel sorry for her, she probably is not happy with her life and if so, she shouldn't take it out on her students. She should either resign or be forced to leave asap

She starts out as really cool, but then it gets bad as the year goes on. She is kind of rude and definitely has her favorites in her class. I'm sure you can pass if you either make p-chem your life or be suck up her butt..
