Do the work and you'll pass. He is a great programming teacher. It took me a solid 2 years to kind of learn programming while he taught it to me in a semester. Great teacher for programming. He does give a lot of work though so keep that in mind however he will give you a good grade as long as you get the work done.

I took many classes taught by him. He takes forever to grade work (I didn't receive a final grade before the start of the next semester a couple times) and seems to put no work into preparing for the classes he's teaching - in many cases, students were more knowledgeable than him. I can't recommend Dr. Whittle, even if he is a nice guy in general.

I took CIS111 with Whittle. He was kind, but I felt like he could've taught this class way better. He seems to be knowledgeable but didn't show his capabilities. His feedback was general & it didn't help you understand what you did wrong. There was so much work for each unit. Be prepared to teach yourself the material. KEEP TRACK OF DEADLINES!

(This applies for all his classes, not just 112.) Dr. Whittle is knowledgeable, but is very bad at lecturing (which unfortunately, he does a lot of). Since he teaches many of the CIS classes you can't avoid him. When you need to take his classes, focus on trying to learn the material yourself, then asking him or the aids for help if you get stuck.

Dr W may be intelligent, but he does not know how to impart his knowledge onto his students. He doesn't discuss relative content during lectures, he's impossible to get a hold of for help, he assigns unbelievable amounts of homework, and he's a tough grader. If your degree doesn't require taking a course with him, avoid at all costs.

This is easily the most time consuming class iv ever taken. The work load is insane. If you have no intension of being a computer coder, turn around and run! Insanely hard tests and projects that take days to finish. Bad grader!Worst class ever, the professor does not care. Would rather spend the semester in jail then his class. Im a b+ student!!

Worst class ive ever taken here at dcc in my 2 years of being here. Frank is a nice guy but his work load is just insane. Projects take 10+ hours to do *each* if you know the material. My grades in other classes have suffered because this class consumes all my time. Tests are just ridiculously hard and hes a horrible grader. Dont take this class!!

I took CIS 111 online, the homework was a lot like most students have stated but the homework helped me understand the material better. We had to write essays on almost every chapter... which was annoying but not too bad. I think if you put in enough effort you will pass Dr. Whittles class. He always replied my e-mails, so great communicator!

Writing this as I procrastinate the TWO essays I have due this WEEK for this class. Since its a Computer Systems+Apps class, I figured Id take it online assuming it would be my easiest class. WRONG. Ive done more HW in this class alone than my entire high school career. Assigns 10+ step HW assignments weekly. I spend hours DAILY doing his HW alone.

I had him in the Fall 2017 semester at Dutchess, his class was absolutely awful. His class was 2 hours long for 2 days a week and is so hard to stay awake and follow along with such poor lecture. Makes you read the textbook that isn't even content that are on his exams, and wasn't available when I needed to ask him questions.

Never returns grades. Tests are hard because they have nothing to do with the lectures. If you want to succeed in this class you must read the chapters multiple times and do ALL the questions at the end of the chapter, not just the assigned questions. You need to teach yourself SQL and PLSQL. I would avoid this class and this professor if possible.

My favorite teacher because his classes are the only ones I feel like I ever learn anything in. He is the CIS program director and he takes his time with his students if you need it. He's very smart and expects the same level from his students. So not for the faint of heart, hard tests, lots of homework and assignments, but you will learn.

Dr Whittle is a good professor, can definitely see why some students would think otherwise though. You will have to use textbook for help, and he is somewhat vague explaining assignments. Tests are also on the difficult side but nothing too crazy. If you are not CIS major and need to take CIS 111, choose a different professor.

Had him for CIS 160/161. Easy class and he's a good guy really doesn't expect too much as long as you do the work. It's really in your hands when it comes to passing the classes. Although his lectures were funny, they got off track sometimes and i felt lost at the actual point, agree?

Worst professor I have ever had in Dutchess. Does not teach you anything, you strictly work from the textbook, that is old and outdated. Tests had nothing to do with the textbook. He always shows up 20 min late. Highly advise against!
