This class is purely lecture based. If you know someone who has taken his class before and they have example materials that can help you a lot. He gives good feedback but sometimes does not exactly seem to know what the questions we asked were. He is very funny and does care about the students!

I love Professor Smith ! At first the test were hard for me only because I didn't study but when I realize that every note that he wrote on the board(which was a lot) was on the test, so all you have to do is make flashcards and study and you'll past the class. He gave one paper but he didn't grade them hard and he use to write notes on chalk brd

Dr. smith has been teaching this class FOREVER. Seems kinda impossible at first but after a few tests you learn it's just memorization from notes on chalk board. Lab is all testing to use for big paper at end of semester. Class is pretty cut and dry. Nice guy but isn't very helpful on a lot of things. It's a teach yourself kind of class. Doable.

Comment:

Respected, possibly brilliant researcher who lectures what seems to be "flow-of-thought" material that will regularly cover the entire chalk board. What begins as textbook-heavy, abstract lectures will soon devolve into painstaking, but manageable, clinically-related chart memorization. The only point of lab was to learn techniques for term paper.

Prof. Smith is sweet and is always happy to answer any questions but he is so knowledgeable in his field that he has a hard time explaining the material to students. The only grades are weekly tests and a lab report at the end of the semester. The test questions come from his lectures so you have to take good notes.

I took his pre-nursing and microbial ecology and did well in both. It is hard material, however if you study and read you can pull A's. He is one of the top in his field and so when he is repeatedly asked the same questions I am sure he does get upset. He is hilarious and let my son in the lab (he's been on shark week so my son was in awe).

Dr. Smith is a great guy. He very knowledgeable and that makes him extremely hard to follow at times. Once you get the hang of his tests, you will pass with flying colors. He is not very clear when it comes to what he expects, but if you take good notes you will be fine. 1 long paper at the end of the semester, but that's not bad either. Got an A.

hardest part was lab. He would show up for ten minutes and then leave for the day and you would never know what to do. gives no direction for lab, had to ask others in the class for help. lectures and material are pretty interesting but its hard to hear him so if you have bad hearing I would sit in the front of the class.

He is one of the worst professors i have ever had. he doesn't teach...and if he does it is so hard to understand...he goes off on tangents...basically you learn from boring movies! seriously, we watch an hour movie per class.

Dr. Smith is a very funny guy. He can be kind of sarcastic, but he is very sweet. The class is not as hard as everyone makes it seem..as long as you study your notes and create good relationships with your classmates, you will be fine! Very interesting class...:)

Not nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be. This class was certainly not an easy A, but with a little work it is not impossible to do very well. I found Dr. Smith to be funny and sweet. He was a really cool guy and good professor.

Take notes of everything and compare them with your classmates. If you understand your notes you'll do fine on the tests. Not an easy class, but not as hard as many make it seem. Book was helpful in explaining some things that he couldn't make clear. Overall an interesting class and a fun professor.

The most frustrating and inconsiderate professor I've ever had! I'd tell you not to take him but he's the only one to teach Micro at USCA. Material isn't that hard to learn if you devote adequate time, but he tests you on stuff you have no way of knowing so you can't succeed. The only way to get an A in this class is if your able to read his mind

AHHHHHHHH thats all i have to say... horrible horrible teacher! nothing that i learned in this class helped me in nursing classes so dont freak out if you dont learn anything! DONT WASTE $200 o the book! NEVER USED IT! staight memorization of pathways. and dont bother studying for the final... goodluck
