Not the best professor, but did make class at 4:30pm not too awful. If he is the professor that works best in your schedule he is fine, but if someone is better I would go with them and not him.

took this class for my language requirement. didn't work hard at all, barely did the homeworks, and got an A in the class. if you go show him you want a good grade, he will help you out.

Comment:

Professor Vanegas is nothing if not a big personality. While he might be viewed as somewhat arrogant and over-the-top, he also has a genuine desire to help students learn. It is imperative that you go to his office hours because he grades writing harshly on tests and on homework, and you need to let him explain himself once and then he'll like you.

He is very nice man, but a confusing teacher. The assignment is confusing. But he is super enthusiastic and willing to help you. I don't feel I learn a lot from the class, although I get an A-

Vanegas is awesome! He really cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. He's a pretty easy grader, but you still have to demonstrate effort in your work. He has some really great stories, and is overall just a great guy.

If you participate in class then he will love you. There are numerous assignments but they aren't time consuming and he is not too tough of a grader. He is a very sweet and likable guy, you get out what you put in.

Vanegas is a super nice guy. Sometimes his assignments are confusing, but if you ask, he'll explain it. He's not incredibly punctual. You'll do a lot of group work and he loves participation. Mostly just wants students to speak the language and enjoy it, so make an effort and you'll be just fine.

Effective teacher, and a very easy class overall. However, he regularly holds class late over the stated time, and keeping up with homework independently is paramount. Follow the syllabus to the letter, he won't give reminders of due assignments.

Professor Vanegas is such a sweet and understanding man. Very fun and easy-going class. He expects students to participate and do their homework but rewards those who do with good grades. I would recommend him to anyone.

Definitely the easiest class I had freshman year. Homework is very abundant, but he does it to sift out lazier students. You are gauranteed an A if you do the homework and as usual, participate.

Span 2040 class is very fun and pretty easy. Nice guy with a great sense of humor. Gets easily taken advantage of by the class. Study for tests and quizzes and you should be good. Recommended for Span2040 level.

ALMOST NEVER ON TIME TO CLASS. Great guy, but very hard to get anything higher than a 93 in the class. He works with you, and I believe he will bump up to A if close enough. Take Vanegas. He's a great person with better stories.

He is a nice professor. Flexible grade and due date. But his english accent is not very good.I never learn spanish before, so i totally got lost for some times.Take his class, he is helpful, and the most important thing is that he is welling to help.

one of the best professors I ever had! he is so helpful and tells the most interesting stories about his life in Nicaragua. he's a pretty easy grader and is very flexible when it comes to due dates, requirements etc as long as you talk to him in advance! i laughed during every class. he's such a great guy. i highly recommend him!

Pretty helpful guy. Fairly easy grader. Tests aren't cumulative. Class itself was pretty boring, but was interesting when he'd discuss Latino culture. All in all a really solid prof.

Comment:

He's a nice guy, but he doesn't speak English well at all. Because of this, he's hard to understand, and he never really answers your questions. It's actually really frustrating. The average class basically consists of him having students read the textbook out loud. Only perk is that he's an easy grader and there's not much work involved.
