Dr. Cruz is a wonderful professor. He is a fair grader and gives you many opportunities to improve your grade. The textbook isn't necessary, and there are no exams. The quizzes in the class are just identifying terms. The papers you have to write have multiple topic options. I adored him and hope to take more classes with him in the future.

Hated this professor. Cruz's exams were not that difficult and you had to go to class but he is boring, obnoxious, and doesn't listen to students. It's tough enough to hear him because of his thick accent as well. I'd never recommend him to anyone. Don't take.

Cruz is a good professor and very knowledgeable. As a seminar class, there was a lot of discussion, but it tended to be all over the place. Make sure you read the books to participate in the discussion. 40% of your grade is the 20+ page paper. You learn a lot from the lecture portion. Cruz cares about students & class. I would take his class again!

Super nice guy, very passionate. Make sure you go to class bc attendance counts, but don't bother paying attention to lectures or reading textbook. He puts the powerpoints online and gives the exam questions ahead of time (all answers are in the power points). Super easy A with little work. Definitely take him if you need to take a history class

Nice professor, lectures are clear and oganized. Topics are interesting, he delivers a great deal of historical information. Attendance and participation counts. Participaticipation is easy, he allow students to use computers. Three exams, one is open book. Not a difficult class at all.

There is a map quiz, a historical document analysis, a midterm and a final. The TA grades everything so if you have any questions go to them, my TA was very picky about the grading . Takes attendance and it is part of your grade. He has a very thick accent and says 'uh' about a million times which makes it hard to sit through his lectures.

Really nice guy with good intentions and passion for the subject. His tests are as easy as it gets and go along with the textbook readings so the readings do help with the tests. There are a few short papers and a map quiz as well. Only con, the classes are long and sometimes boring if you aren't into the subject. Take notes.

Very nice guy. Long boring lectures. One exammidterm, a final, and a few essays. Midterm and final are an essay form and 5 short answer identification questions. He gives you 7 possible essay topics, and then chooses one on exam day. Fair grader, fair tests. Not a very easy class but not super tough. Takes attendance. Don't need the books at all.

Pretty easy class for me! A few short papers that weren't bad. Only two exams, midterm and final. He will give you six or seven to study and you only have to answer one plus a few identification questions for the actual exam. Do the readings and participate. Overall pretty straight forward and he's actually a funny and really nice guy.

I was skeptical to Dr. Cruz after reading all of the comments here, but after taking him, he is very good and professional. He understands if his students have trouble writing, had to miss a class, or just need help going over the material. It was an easy A as well. I would def. recommend him

Really not bad. Some of the assignments were a little rough. For the Midterm and Final if you have a textbook you should be 100% ok

Honors section literally has no extra requirements.Teacher is hard to understand at times. Only need to go to class because he has a sign in sheet, aside from that you could do well by reading the textbook. Not an interesting course but not bad overall

Honestly, this class was just okay. It's not bad, easy, hard, or great. It reminded me of high school. TA grades papers so you can do well if you can write well. Go to class to get notes and try to really listen to him. Know what is important and what isn't in the lecture--he always focuses on people that you don't need to know about.

Does not care about you or the material. I love European History and somehow Cruz made me hate it. Reading the textbook is more interesting than him. seven essay questions and you only answer with one - make sure you prepare them with other people, or else you just wasted a ton of energy. mandatory attendance at 9:30 is the worst. DO NOT TAKE.

Such an awesome professor. He was so great, and such a nice guy too. Class was so easy, and the exams were even easier. Only have one required report to right, and 3 exams. Exams are so easy, 5 identifications, and 1 essay. Just get all your information straight from your notes and you should be fine. Book is helpful, but not necessary.

He is from Spain so this is his area of interest. Can get boring at times when the material gets dry but his enthusiasm and stories help. I'm sure people got B's w/o opening a book. I skimmed through readings and got an A-. Very helpful, lent me his copy of a book. 5 quizzes, 1 10pg paper, 5pg midterm and final paper. If at all interested, take it

He is a really nice guy and the material is interesting. However, he can get REALLY boring and the slides eventually become unbearable to sit through. His accent and stutter makes him unclear especially. It's an easy class but the TA grades way too hard for a 100 level course, it's still not difficult though. Otherwise the class is kind of a joke.
