Comment:
Professor Peterson focuses on lecturing, and she does a great job of keeping lectures interestingwhile actually teaching you. However, she expects you to remember every single detail and her feedback is usually negative. She is the hardest grader I have had, but I like that she has high expectations of her students.

This class is very difficult but so interesting its worth it! There are only 4 assignments(mid term essay and 3 exams) so be prepared to put a lot of effort into these 4 things. You will need to study every single detail for the tests. Professor Peterson is the best lecturer Ive took a class from, her lectures are engaging and fun.

Half the time I didnt learn anything from lecture. Prof. Peterson will go off on tangents for thirty minutes that have nothing to do with the class work and then get annoyed with us when we dont know the material. Overall you have to teach yourself. Oh and shell randomly decide to talk about things not in the textbook.

I took HIST146 and HIST148 with her too, all in all an amazing professor. Her classes are completely and only lecture, so it's important to be there every day or make a reliable buddy in the class. Her assignments (I only had 4 each quarter total) are very weighted; do not ever ever procrastinate these. She also replies very quickly to emails!

You will definitely need to study, but her lectures are great. She grades tougher than average, however after the first test you should get the hang of it.

Great teacher! Very hard grader. You need to take notes and remember dates and importance of events or else you will be marked down. However, she makes history interesting and makes sure you understand everything.

Jody Peterson is one heck of a Professor. A professor that shifted the way I view politics. The course is very lecture heavy but not boring at all. The lectures will have you interested from start to finish. She might be one of the reasons as to why I decided to major in Political Science

I took HIST147 from a different professor and got a 4.0. I took HIST148 from Peterson and got a 2.4. She expects an insane amount of information on her open-ended tests (only assignments are 3 tests and 1 essay, each worth 100 points). She expects a student to write every single detail; if not, get prepared to earn Cs despite knowing a lot of info.

Lots of lecture, long tests with long essays, and a very long research paper. I took 3 separate classes from her - she's difficult, but you will learn a lot, because she is passionate and knowledgable. Take very good notes and crack open the book to study.

The class is pretty much all lecture besides test days, but it isn't boring. She makes otherwise pretty mundane things seem interesting. Don't miss class, though, because there's a lot of information you can miss in just one day that the textbook won't give you as in-depth or clearly.

Dr. Peterson is one of, if not the best (with the recent retirement of a professor there), professor at Centralia College. She is exceptional, her passion is evident, her teaching style is top rate, and on top of all that she is a genuine individual who cares about your education. Do your work, and it's not too tough. Puts CC on the map!

This is not an easy A class. There isn't much homework, which frees up your time for other classes. Everyday is a lecture, but they are interesting. Tests are written, so if you can't write an essay this isn't the class for you. Follow the lectures, write down the details for items on her exam study sheet, and know them. Makes history fun.

Jody is one of the most respected and knowledgeable professors at Centralia College. She is very passionate about history/government and it shows through her teaching. Her jokes and side comments will keep you awake and laughing during class. Jody is a fantastic professor and I am beyond excited to take more of her classes!

She's a great person and an entertaining lecturer. She frequently will tell unrelated stories, which is always great. The exams are beyond difficult, especially if you're bad at essay writing. She only gave out 8 grades in the whole quarter (4 map quizzes, 1 paper, 3 exams), and if you end up with a good grade on any of those assignments you know that you've truly earned it. She also gives fantastic feedback.

Fantastic professor. She really cares about history, and makes that clear through her lectures. She puts an outline on the board each day, which is super helpful in organizing notes. She also gives out study guides and is very clear on what she expects on tests - I really wish I could have taken more than one class!

Jody is one of my favorite people after taking this course! Her lectures are outstanding and will keep your interest even in the most mundane areas with her cynical and sarcastic remarks. She is absolutely the best professor at Centralia and you will love any of her classes. Truly passionate about what she does and it definitely shows in her work.

She is a very helpful professor. If you have a hard time understanding the concept, go to her office and she will love to help you. I kissed her ass and went to her office non stop everyday and she would even tell me what to study/not to study for the exams! Just go to class and read and STUDY!!! and you'll be good!
