I really enjoyed this class. I would take him again. The class was extremely chill. The exams come mostly from the book. I took notes in class, but did not even look at them. His tests have free points on them. The exams were multiple choice, and pretty easy. Skimming the book for relevant info is vital, ex. statistics, definitions

Comment:

This professor lectured the entire length of class, and it was interesting but a bit dry. I never really knew what to study for exams, it was always a little fuzzy. Projects were straight forward and not that difficult at all. Prof Roche has an extremely warm and happy relationship, and you can tell he's incredibly smart, but he can be confusing.

Book is mandatory. Exams come right from the book readings. Notes are all over the place. Lectures are boring. He is a nice, helpful, and understanding teacher though. Four projects one including a paper.

Easy going professor. 3 multiple choice exams. Read text and know statistics. Comes straight from the book. Only 20% of what he teaches ends up on exams. 4 easy projects. He DOES count attendance. Keep up with your reading. Don't count on learning anything. Easy A, but total waste of time. Wouldn't recommend unless you just need the credit.

Nice guy, four easy projects and he lets you know your grades half way (for projects), goes over exam the next day. Must read text by yourself and take notes, because he doesn't teach everything. Exams are mostly on text but a few questions from his lectures. KNOW STATS! Monotone voice makes class boring, but easy if you just need Gen Ed credit.

Completely destroyed what should have been an extremely interesting sociology class. This Professor is obviously eeking out his retirement. Exams were based o n statistics rather than class content with no room for personal opinion or experiential point of view. Waste of time and money especially when you are serious about your education!!!

Ah dont take him. You could memorize the book and not show up to any class, and get an A because he doesnt teach anything. He lies and does not job your lowest test grade, and he DOES count attendence. I tried to talk to him about my grade and he refused. SO unhelpful. You'll think youre doing good, until you actually see your grade in the end

I had him for Crime & Criminal Justice and took him again for The Family. His classes are super easy if you keep up with the reading and notes. Multiple choice and he adds extras so you can get extra points. (Know statistics though) Very easy projects. Overall, a pretty funny teacher who is an easy A

Relatively easy class. Roche was easy going and knowledgeable. You MUST read the assigned reading; otherwise, you'll be lost when it comes time to take an exam. We took 3 multiple choice exams. The last one you could opt out of if you were satisfied with your grade. *Make you sure you study the statistics/percentages.*

The crime and criminal justice course was great. Very interesting and enjoyed the professor. Three multiple choice tests, skip the last one if your grade is good. Three easy projects! Great course-highly recommend this professor!

He has a VERY dry sense of humor and he never made sense.. his favorite topic is sex... like every class its about sex seriously its about crime and justice... he talks about that a lot... so i say dont take this class... if you have to idk what to tell you...
