Professor Strain is easily one of the best professors at the U. He is genuine and cares about his student's learning more than the grade. He was my professor for first year seminar and this was not a difficult class. I learned a lot and my public speaking skills are so much better. Just come to class and participate and do what he assigns.

One of, if not, my favorite teacher at the university of scranton. Not the easiest, but if you put in the effort and you are smart, you get an A. wish i could have him for all of my classes

I LOVE Prof Strain. He is a super sweet and makes the class very interesting by incorporating current information into his lectures. The more you participate the more he will like you. There aren't any tests or quizzes, and you don't have to take notes during the class. Lots of group projects an public speaking, but he made it easy and fun!!

Overall a smart man who knows what hes talking about. That being said, he shows no mercy. This class was excruciatingly painful in every way, be thankful if you come out the other side. At least youll be a better speaker if you do.

You haven't experienced the University of Scranton communication department if you haven't taken Prof Strain. He's super passionate about what he teaches and takes the time to make sure everyone understands it. Plus, he's not hard on the eyes... at ALL.

Professor Strain is an amazing instructor. He really goes out of his way to get the lesson across. He will challenge you in this class but you will defiantly learn a lot of useful skills especially for anyone looking into becoming a lawyer. There is a lot of research and public speaking but it will do wonders for you.

Great professor! The class is not the easiest, but if you work hard you will do well. He gives great life and career advice. His lectures are interesting. Make sure to participate and complete all the assignments or else you'll be put on the spot. Make sure to study hard for the midterm and final.

He was one of my first college professors and I still think of him and his class often. Believe me when I say, he is a GREAT professor. You will be challenged, but you will become a much better speaker from where you started. He makes the class fun and engaging.. I always looked forward to going. I highly recommend him for public speaking.

He is a top quality professor. Each speech is worth more than the previous and you have practice runs before the real one, which helps. There is a midterm and final, both were pretty easy. He grades speeches hard but if he thinks you improved, you'll get a good grade at the end. Great lectures- I looked forward to his class.

Excellent professor! Brings a lot of energy to the class. You will have several speeches and will be pushed to do your best. Gives you a lot of practice runs before the actual graded speech which is great. Midterm was "blue book" style and kinda hard but final was easy. Great teacher if you actually want to learn.

He is honestly one of the best teachers I've had here and I'm not even a COMM major. I dreaded public speaking but he really pushed me to be my best and got the class going. My public speaking improved A LOT by the end of the course and I started out terrible. He grades on improvement because he actually wants you to get the real-life skills.

Prof. Strain is one of the best on campus. The class is tough but if you are having difficulty with anything he will help you out. He encourages questions in class because he knows that some of the work is fuzzy. FOR FUTURE STUDENTS: start the term paper early. the earlier you start, the better you will do

I took him during intersession and he is a nice guy but me likes to call you out in class a lot. We had 5 speechs which were easy and not a lot of kids in the class which made it better, and we also had a midterm that was kindof hard and a super easy final. I would take him again.

Great guy. Extremely nice and likes to get the class invloved during lectures. When it comes to speeches I would call him fair but challenging. He knows what hes talking about and really makes class fun.
