Comment:

She's very nice! She really enjoys teaching and this is evident during her lessons. The class demands time and effort; you work for your grade. There's a group project for which you have to work on several components throughout the semester (get a good team). Average of 5 short essay Q's on exams and 1 hr for them. Better come prepare for those!

Comment:

Kmec is very clear of her standards at the beginning of the year. Although this course is not easy, if you come to class, pay attention and do most of the readings you should be able to receive a good grade. Kmec is easy to work with and will answer questions

I took this class for my minor thinking it wouldn't be too bad. This class is very hard to keep a steady grade. She does random quizzes and participation questions. As well as she takes attendance everyday. Over the course of the semester you are working on a group project the entire time and lots of outside of class work for this. Terrible class.

Professor Kmec is very close minded will not discuss grade matters with you and has a record of having uneducated TA's during her courses. What's the point of taking her course when half the time she has to GOOGLE information or ask her TA's for help because she doesn't know? I recently had to fly home to see my ill aunt and she would not make any

Really great professor who cares so much about her students and her work. Easy to approach too. Class is not easy, but it is possible to get a good grade if you put in the effort and ask for help when needed. No textbook, but articles that she provides for you.

Love this class! Learned a lot and she really phrases stuff in a way that makes sense. Responds to emails in 2 seconds and wants to help her students succeed any way she can!

My rating for Professor Kmec is not a five because her classes are not easy, she is not going to go out of her way to save your grade for the semester, and what is expected of you is not clear cut if you do not attend every lecture. With that being said, Kmec is an inspirational amazing professor, I highly recommend taking any course she offers.

In my opinion, Kmec is the best sociology Prof. at WSU. She is intelligent, helpful, and loves sociology. But if you are looking for an easy class, look elsewhere. Her classes are hard. There was a lot of in-class work, as well as a lot more out of class work. The group project took forever. But she is a fair grader. Also, her exams are tough!

very fair professor. 9 workshops( so many !), group project(fun!) 3 exams (multiple choices, short answers, and essay). always have her own notes and class materials not in the textbook so need to go to classes :D

Prof. Kmec is very interested in what she does which makes class more enjoyable. She is engaging in class & very helpful if you talk to her outside of class. Some of her exams were a bit difficult but with hard studying, & communication with her, an A is possible. I'd recommend any class she teaches.

Kmec is a great teacher. Lectures are very interesting. There is a lot of reading, but no homework. Just 4 test and a final with small in class assignments. Test aren't that hard but you really need to study and understand the concepts, esp. from the textbook. Articles are also assigned to read for exam. Don't be late to class, she hates it!!!!!!:)

Comment:

Very good teacher; I would not hesitate to take another class from her. She is very fair: after tests, she drops questions that the majority of the class misses. No extra credit, but she drops your lowest test and quiz score. She balances class discussion with lecture well. Just make sure you respect her and don't expect to get out of class early.

Okay teacher. When people talk in class she tends to throw a fit. Tests are multiple choice but the wording on them can be confusing. and there aren't many questions on them so if you don't do well on tests I would consider that before taking this. If you're a soc major I might refrain from taking this because it just reinforces the obvious-boring!

At least 50%, if not more of her tests are from online readings and the book. Things which are not discussed in class. This requires you to read the material. However it usually is interesting reading and tests are not confusing if you know the material. She's a great teacher overall and very open minded. Cares about students and their learning.

Professor Kmec is kickass!! I loved her method of teaching and the assignments were interesting for a change. I would HIGHLY reccomend this class to anyone and everyone. I came away from this class as a better person because of what I learned...go sign up for it now!

Professor Kmec was one of my favorite professors. She knows what she is teaching and how to teach the material. She facilitates class discussion and never dismisses any opinions contrary to the ones she presents in class. Take this class!

Professor Kmec is a really awesome teacher. I don't really enjoy soc that much, but she was able to make it interesting and even fun. If you need to take a social science and Kmec is teaching soc, I say go for it, even if you have no idea what soc is. I didn't. :)
