Fairly hard class, however the grading scale is 85+ = A, 70+ = B, and 60+ = C. He doesn't assign anything from the textbook. He knows the material very well. Sometimes when asking him a question he doesn't fully answer it but instead tells you to look back in the book and such. You'll get over his accent in a few days.

I took his class Spring11. He gives 4 exams with the lowest grade dropped + Final. He's a very organized professor and very helpful. Do the HW and you'll be fine. However, make sure to check the answers with him since the book sucks and contains a lot of mistakes. Made me like probabilities!!

He is by far, the best Math teacher at CSUN. if you pay attention to his lecture and do the HW you would easily pass the class. it is true that he asks you to show the proof on the exam but he has already given you the proofs!! all the exam are based on the HW assignments and if you do the HW correctly you wont have any problems on the exam.

This professor gives too much homework. He gives you online homework which is graded, then he gives you bookwork which shows up on the test and it isn't graded. So, you do the online h/w and you do bad on the tests because you don't have time to do the bookwork, and you get a C...

Hardest class I have ever taken. He intimidates ridicules and in one occasion a student asked a question and Chow told him to shut up. Volume of hw is very high. However his answers are concise, he adds humor to the lecture sometimes by putting down students and is very helpful when approached directly. Questions on tests are based on proofs NOT hw

This class is interesting. Its like a black hole, the professor sucks you into the class and starts beating you with proofs and quizes that if you dont word it the way he wants you to, then you get marked off drastically. Tests are ridiculous. One of them we had to state two pages of proofs only for one problem. Textbook has nothing to do w/ test.

I have never had a worse professor in my 3 years at CSUN. He went over theory behind math but not really how to do math. On his final he put something on that was not book and he went over once for 5 minutes. Everything is based on the book, but he puts problems in ways that are not in book. Only took him because he was only one teaching this class

My only complain is the text book. The book sometimes concludes results without telling you how. Its examples are not varied. Prof Chow should spend more time explaining problems than theory beause this class is meant to be practical. For the student: Be ready to know a little bit of Permutations and Combinations before you take this class.

Wonderfull teacher, clear lectures with clear examples. Always ready to help when ask question.He truly puts effort to teach just do the homeworks well ,study the lecture somtimes need to read the book and you will do fine. Overall classic and nice teacher.

I had this professor for 150A & B, and 250. True, he makes you work hard, but that's what's required to do well in Calculus. 1 of those teachers who's material closely follows the book without having to refer to it at all. Inspiring and a great teacher who cares about his students. Amini and Chow were the best professors I have ever had.

He assigns a lot of homework. His tests are hard and impossible to finish (60 min test with 6-7 questions with sub sections abcd, in 2 or 3 questions). Loves to proves theorems, so test has proofs too :(. If you ask a review question or a something that he went over in class he will put you down, and tell you to review your notes instead. AVOID.

He still has the same format of testing - 5-6 questions with one part being true and false. HW is fine- Exams are horrible. Most if not all material that is usually covered in the exams are things that are only seen once. Please reconsider another professor for this course. One with a different book as well, this book is terrible.

Straight A student. Sucked in this class. Assgn Hw before teaching and HW worth 1 midterm. M/terms has 5 questions with sub questions from (a)thru (f). So it is not doable within 50 minutes. Finals was 2 parts. part 1 has 25 prob with True False @!$ which worth a m/term. He is crazy.1 T or F worth 4%. never taken a math test with T/F. No +/- grade

this professor is HORRIBLE! warning to all students who are taking math 250, and are planning to take it with chow. DO NOT! he gives a lot of homework. and none of it shows up on the tests. during lecture, he doens't even explain the problems. his accent also plays a role in class. hard to understand the professor. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROF!
