Honestly this is the best/easiest class I have ever taken here. This math class is so simple to take and she is a great teacher in showing you certain tricks to figure out an answer. Every exam she lets you use a study guide that you have to make yourself. I would seriously recommend taking her class if you need the credits!

Comment:

One of the worst professors I have had here at IUP. I had mandatory surgery and when I went to go get the work I missed she told me I should just drop out of school that semester because I missed a week. Do not take her if you can but if it is the only class offered, good luck.

Comment:

Dr. Stempien is a sweet lady. She cares about math way too much. She does like things her way and there is no arguing with that. Class is mandatory. Assignments are easy if you pay attention in class. Exams are simple if you do the assignments. Cheat sheets are allowed. She takes off points for simple errors. Overall, Dr. Stempien is okay.

Do not take her. It is her way or the highway. She has a way of doing things and that is the way she wants you to do them. She knocks off points for everything. She doesn't explain things very clearly. plus, the class was super boring. Take Baker or the other guy over her.

Good teacher but needs to make some changes. On tests/quizzes it is her way or no way. Even if you know the information and show how you got it, it is likely you will still lose points, which bothers me. Homework nightly. Slightly rushed pace. My opinion is you should take Baker over Stempien.

how she ever became a teacher is beyond me. She makes AT LEAST a couple mistakes every class and takes away points if you dont explain something word for word. Wish I would have taken a different math

Dr. Stempien is a BIG geek! She has the weirdest accent and pronounces words very strangely. Overall though the class is pretty easy and the information that you learn is actually relevent to real life. The tests are pretty easy, but she is very picky about spelling and other dumb stuff like that. Enjoy!

She is a great professor and it is really easy to understand the material that she teaches. She is very helpful and willing to show you how to do something if your confused. Her homework is short and easy and if anyone complains its because there just lazy. I wish I could take her again.

Why everyone is giving Dr. Stempien such a bad wrap? I honestly enjoyed her class. She does give a lot of homework, but she rarely collects it. Explanation is an important part of the class, be prepared to explain how to do what you are doing and why it works. I never felt like I was being treated like a child. (Idk why people are saying that!)

She is a horrible professor. She doesn't teach you she expects you to read the text book and know what you're doing. If you come to her office she will tell you to go to tutoring. She won't help you at all. She gives out tons of homework. Her class is pointless. Nothing anybody ever answers is correct unless its exactly how she would say it.

She is a TERRIBLE professor. I think she has caused me to loose a couple brain cells. She treats you like a 4 year old, and doesn't listen to the answers that you give her unless it is worded exactly how she would word it. Her class is pretty easy, but she's not helpful at all and she's spastic. She also talks to herself a lot. Hate that class!

Horrible! She treats you like a little kid, and makes you feel terrible everytime you ask a question. Don't mispronouce anything in this class or you'll feel stupid! Don't suggest taking her unless you feel like falling asleep in class and being completely lost the entire time!

This class was rediculous, it wasnt really hard but she never had enough time to help those that didnt understand the concpets and her exams were tricky with wording. I volunteered at an elementary school tutoring math for extra credit that she then wouldn't give me because "not enough student tutored" shouldnt that mean I should've gotten more?NO!

Her MATH101 class will be the easiest math class you take in college. It's a complete joke we sat there and colored maps the whole time, but I'm totally not complaining. Complete easy A class... "don't forget your colored pencils for the final"

She is nice Her class is pretty easy. You have to go everyday because she takes attendence everyday and it impacts your grade. She assigns homework but usually doesn't check it. She will give a hint if she is planning to check your homework. The tests are easy as long as you listen in class and do the homework. Her teaching can make you feel stupid
