This was asynchronous, but there was SO much reading, lectures, and films to watch. The paper's due dates were so rushed compared to how much we had to research each religion. He just talks forever during his lectures about things that aren't relevant. I just took this class for a theology credit. Keep up with the reading or he can tell.

Do not take any class taught by this professor. He is incredibly boring and will lecture you for an hour and a half. He has a very odd way of grading. His papers are so hard and require a tremendous amount of reading. He makes you buy three textbooks that you have to bring to class. Would not recommend.

DO NOT TAKE FOSTER. Worst professor I have ever taken hands down. He makes money off his students because creates a textbook of articles that you HAVE to buy in order to pass. His grading system makes no sense, he does not care about his students, can be very arrogant, and the way he assigns work/ gives instructions is extremely unclear.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He lectures you until your ears bleed. He does not give good feedback. He has his own grading system and it is bizarre. He wants you to participate but doesn't actually let you speak when you try. He makes you buy a book he wrote to make money off of you. His assignments require way to much time for a class like this.

This professor requires so much outside reading that if you don't read, you will be confused. Even if you do read, you will be confused. He requires you to buy an $80 book that has random stuff in it that he does not go over. He lectures but does not use slides, its off the top of his head and is boring and hard to focus. Do not take him!!!!!!

I loved Dr. Fosters approach to teaching. He not only taught a subject he is passionate about, but taught us our responsibility as students in having a scholarly exchange. He got us to think about the subject. We learned to argue the subject with facts and state our opinions and solutions to the problem.

I would be lying if I said this class wasn't difficult. The papers were long and tedious and required a lot of reading to be completed. However, Foster was a good professor and he did seem to care. Extra credit was always offered and an option to redo a paper for a better grade. Overall if you are lazy don't take this class but it is doable.

Dr. Foster is the toughest grader I have ever encountered, and does not give any notes or slides during his lectures. However, if you keep in touch with him through email, speak with him after class, and participate, he would love to help! He also allows students to redo papers if they are not happy with the grade.

Very difficult grader. The papers are the most difficult things I have had to write just for a class that isn't even anyone's major. Avoid.

DO NOT TAKE FOSTER if you are just trying to get an essay A ! He genuinely believes all his students are theology majors. There is so much reading, and long lectures, he really enjoys to hear himself talk. Besides that he really is such a great person, and super interesting , insightful and informative . The class is not easy be prepared to work.

Words cannot begin to express how difficult this class is. The class description itself does not seem that difficult but it is. I thought I would be able to do well in his class considering my extensive background in Theology and English courses but I was very wrong and would suggest that no one takes his class in the future. You will regret it.

For an elective class, he makes everyone buy a $60 textbook that he wrote! He also talks for the entire class. DEFINITELY DO NOT TAKE IF YOU ARE A VISUAL LEARNER!! The lectures are lengthy and boring

Do not take him, Im warning yall! His lectures are long and boring.. gives us mad papers we have to write based off his method and if we dont do it his way, youre literally going to get dropped a whole letter grade on your papers. The textbook is like 500 pages. He gave us a final paper AND final exam. Imagine being in a 9am class for 3hrs smh

Lectures for an hour and a half every class, extremely boring. 5 papers we had to write from a 500 page textbook. Almost seems like he thinks every student is a religion major when nobody is and they're only taking the class bc we need to. Have to actually read the textbook to do the work.

Foster is a professor that only comes around once. I took his class titled Beyond 9/11, his course that he taught alongside an Egyptian Professor provided valuable insight into the Muslim world and completely shifted my views on the war on terror. I'm a fiction writer, and Matthews view on current events gave me new creative perspective

He's a tough teacher and you REALLY have to pay attention in class to do well. Don't skip class and try your best to focus and take notes. The class I felt at first was impossible but if you put in the work it will show. He's always available and a nice man. The reviews are way worse than he is. If you're on the lazier side of a student don't take.
