Maggie is one of the best professors I think I will ever have. At the start it may seem like you won't pass, but please please please reach out to her for help. I have learned so much from her and she has helped me through everything and anything I am struggling with Russian wise. She is one of those hidden gems and I hope to take her again :)

Comment:

Dr. Miltcheva is the best professor who teaches Russian. I also took her Folktales course, which was very interesting. She makes a hard language seem easy and reasonable. If you are thinking about taking Russian, take her ONLY!

Comment:

Professor Miltcheva is the best! Her classes are interesting, and unlike most professors, she understands that her class is not her students' only class. She is very flexible and always willing to help and even change deadlines if need be. If you see her name on a class, take it!

She is amazing. I am a native Russian speaker, so the class was very easy for me. However, all other Russian Professors would have treated me differently and would have given me harder tests. She was fair. She made a hard class, easy and fun! She should be the only Russian professor you get.

She is a wonderful person and is an easy grader. She helps you out when you need help and is willing to work with you. Russian is a hard language, but Dr. Miltcheva makes it easy and enjoyable to learn. As long as you do your homework, you will be fine.

She gives a lot of reading that you will need to be ready to discuss for participation grade. However, all of the reading is used also for the few essays you will do for the class so it is useful and not really wasteful time. She is VERY helpful and gives great feedback on everything even simple blog/discussion questions you post online.

Hands down one of CofC's best. Scratch that - one of THE best. Maggie goes above and beyond to help her students, never gets exasperated, encourages you, takes time out of her schedule to help with stuff that might not even be directly related to her class. One of those profs you never forget. Meet her halfway and you'll be so glad you did.

Professor Maggie is the best! So helpful and she understands that Russian is a hard language to learn. She's pretty easy with quizzes and tests but you also learn a lot. You have to study some but you don't have to kill yourself with studying. She's a great professor and a great person!

I took 2 classes with her last year - BEST PROF EVER. She is awesome. Super nice, clear, and willing to work with whatever comes up for you. Never had any problems. One class was mostly papers (3), which she is happy to help with and lets you do your thing, and tests were easy with her help. Maggie is the best prof here. Highly, highly recommend.

Absolutely the best Russian professor. I had three different Russian professors for the language requirement and I learned the most from her. Shes very nice and explains things in a way thats understandable. She also doesn't rely strictly on the book like the other professors do. She's flexible and willing to do whatever she needs to help you learn
