Do not take his class! I wish I had dropped it when I had the chance. It's impossible to take good notes because he's lectures are all over the place. I tried recording the lectures like he recommends but it didn't help. The book is dry so I had a hard time keeping up with reading. Philosophy is hard enough but this professor makes it even harder.

I took this guy fall 09 and trust me he is a complete whatchamacallit; I really wonder who is actually writing these reviews. He gives his philosophy and if you disagree either openly in class or in your journals he gets upset. First of three test in after the drop date and if he fails you for the first one you don?t pass the class.

He is sooo excited about philosophy, and gives the funniest stories and examples from his life. Test come right from notes-fill in the blank & essay questions. You have to write a few papers but they're all opinion. I took his condensed weekend class and loved him! PLUS- He's really CUTE!!!

I LOVED Practical Reasoning! All class we talked about interesting topics. We got to give our own opinions and still be treated as equals (as apposed to being viewed as dumb and less educated students.) Tarpey made the subjects easy to understand and relate to. Overall just a great class!

Very helpful, i heard that he is the easiest Philosophy 110 professor. Most people got at least a B on tests, plenty of EXTRA CREDIT!!:)
