Comment:

Okay class, fairly easy as far as CS classes go, trash personality though as a teacher. Has the attitude of "tough love" but during the COVID-19 crisis "tough love" is less love and more being an a**hole. As long as you don't have any problems in class you won't have a problem, but don't expect him to be helpful.

Comment:

My biggest issue with him is he doesn't use WebCampus for grades, so keep your HW and exams to keep track of your grade. The class is challenging but pay attention and you'll do great. Lectures can be very boring (not his fault) but are set up very well. Homework is tough but he gives plenty of time and it prepares you for the exam very well.

The people who talk about how easy this class is had the past exams. He doesn't change his exams ever so of course it was easy, you had the answers. If you don't have this get ready to suffer

Comment:

Easily the single most difficult teacher I've ever taken. Guy does not care at all about his students passing and his course reflects that. Information overload coupled with poor comprehensive math explanations along with C/C++ required coding projects that are incredibly difficult and can take a dozen hours to complete each. Most people drop.

He teaches by being insanely articulate and crystal clear in his lectures. The class is kinda boring, but I can't really think of a way to improve anything. The midterm was tough, but the median score (after extra credit) was over 90%. If you pay close attention to how he designed this course, you will find that the man is a genius. 10/10

Very cool class. Although, there is a lot of memorization involved. Wish I would have gone over the lecture slides more often than I did. Also, always attempt the EC on projects, it's worth it!

Nicolescu tends to make his homework assignments much more difficult than the tests. It works, though. Just take your time with the homework and reread the lecture notes after class, and you'll get a good grade on the midterm and final without cramming. I enjoyed his class enough that I opted for another of his in the spring semester.

Although I received an A and I was very much familiar with Computer Vision, but I felt Dr. Nicolescu was not able to do a great job on conveying some of the essential topics. Moreover he was just copying slides from Dr. Bebis and at times they were unstructured since he has cut some important information from Dr. Bebis's slides. Overall a nice prof

Nice man. Wants his students to succeed and understand the material. Quizzes are extremely hard and given randomly (you won't know when). The homework is fair on amount and most of the questions are easy. The tests (midterm/final) are easier than the homework/quizzes. Labs are tedious and difficult at times. I should have got an F, but got a D. :-)

Mircea has a soothing voice that will put you to sleep; the powerpoints are semi helpful. A funny guy but will encourage you to answer questions, but if you try and are wrong he will make you feel like a FOOL. Effective teacher, easy grader, easy labs, decent material.

This is probably the best CS class I've taken (I've taken quite a few). Mircea is by far the best teacher in the department. If you ever have the chance to take one of his classes, do it. He is very fair with grading and the like.

Good teacher, had him for CPE201 before this class. He is probably one of the best teachers in the CS department, which sadly isn't saying much, but never the less he is smart and funny. All of his classes are really easy, not saying that you don't learn anything because you will, but he is far and straightforward.

Comment:

Every class was a Powerpoint presentation, which were all handmade by the professor and were very clear and understandable. He would go through the PPT in class and also posted them all on his website in case you didn't go. Homework every 2 weeks or so, and a midterm and a final which were hard but not insanely so. All around a good teacher.
