Comment:

Dr. Appleton is the funniest, most charismatic professor I have had. Every time he opens his mouth, something unexpected comes out. This class is lecture heavy, but enjoyable. If you take good notes, study, and read the (awesome) books that are assigned, you will have no problems. Also, no phones, unless you want to be called out and embarrassed.

I have Dr. Appleton this semester and he is my favorite professor! I can't stand history and I've never been good at it, but he makes it very interesting! He's also hilarious during his lectures! Grades mainly come from your tests so you will have to pay attention in class and study! Overall, this class is great and I would take him again!

Dr. Appleton is a fantastic teacher. He is also hilarious! Trust me, this history class won't be boring. Your grade in the class is almost exclusively from tests, so study hard! Also, tests are mostly based on notes, so show up and pay attention. Don't even think about being on your phone during class. Seriously. You've been warned.

If you don't like your class to be focused around lectures do not take this professor. I personally loved the class and the setup, but I know of a lot of students that struggled. He has a great sense of humor and can be intimidating at times. DON'T GET YOUR PHONE OUT. He will end you.

Great professor with an immense knowledge of everything he teaches. He's very helpful, and always replies to emails. Overall, Dr. A is exceptional.

He is a pretty good professor! Keeps class very interested in subject, if you do not read he will definitely be able to tell so ALWAYS READ. And he grades super hard on papers, so go to the Noel Studio or have someone else proofread. His test are easy if you do the study guide and he is very against texting DO NOT DO IT. He will yell at you!

Dr. A is phenomenal there isn't enough good things that I can say about him. Ive had him for two courses, Kentucky History, and a WWII class. Both excellent, he is intelligent and just a class act. You would be crazy not to take this guy if you need to have a history class. You will have to put forth substantial effort. But incredible guy!!!

I loved having Appleton. He's 1 of the best professors I've had at EKU and I learned more in his class than I have from any other teacher thus far. If you show up to class, study somewhat, and keep your phone off and tucked away, you'll do very well in here. I'd love to have him again.

Dr. Appleton is hilarious and exactly what he lectures on is what is on the test. Just DO NOT fall asleep, get out your phone, or zone out because HE WILL CALL YOU OUT and HUMILIATE you.

Great professor! Do NOT use your cell phone in class or he will humiliate you. Also, do not fall asleep!!! Go to class, listen, and take notes and you will do fine in the class. Dr. Appleton is quite comical at times.

Appleton is a great professor. He will help you along and wants you to pass. He does make it clear that it is a upper level class and will make you work for the grade. No term paper which was very helpful. Only had three assignments all semester but they were big points. Get ready to read. He is understanding and helpful as well. Would take again.

Dr. Appleton inspired me to be a history major. I am graduating next semester and I already have all the history credits I need, but I am taking his Kentucky history class next semester just because I want to take one of his classes again before I graduate. He is funny and really knows his stuff! Would highly recommend!

First and foremost, all comments regarding using your mobile device are dead on. DO NOT TEXT!! He will count you absent if you consider your phone. He will impart a bunch of valuable knowledge on you. Very hilarious at times, thorough, clear, and helpful. Has high knowledge of history and will tell behind-the-scene stories about history.

The best professor I've ever had at EKU. I took The Modern American Presidency (HIS 414) with him and loved the class. I already love history but he make class fun for those of you who don't care about it that much. Looking forward to taking more classes with him in the future. Highly Recommend!!!!!

Literally the best professor at EKU and just a great person in general. He really makes class interesting. If you take good notes and review them, you can make an A. I didn't even have to take the final and still made an A. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!!

Took Dr. A for Kentucky History. He is an exceptional professor who knows the subject inside and out. I never knew KY was so rich in history. His sense of humor made every class worth going to. Lot of reading and writing, but it's college. So that's expected. Take him! He's a great person. He'll help anyone anyway he can. Highly recommend!
