Harwood is by far one of the worst profs I've had so far. He is conceited and always brags about his book (which he makes you pay $50 for in order to take the class). Lectures are long and boring, but only once a week. An "every man for themselves" type of person. Left the entire class in the rain one day on a field trip and drove his car back.

Harwood is terrible!!! This is the most egocentric, narcissistic, and conceited man I've ever met. I had a three hour class, once a week with him, and it was ALL I could do to make myself show up. All he does is talks about how he wrote this "amazing" (it sucks) book and has sold over 500 copies, which is only because he makes us buy them from him!

Comment:
Egotistic and self absorbed, likes to give in class critiques of other students work when they are not there to defend themselves. Needs a dose of reality and needs to stop pushing his photography books to students, his experience is irrelevant to being a teacher.

He knows what he's talking about because he used to be a newscaster/reporter. But he definitely should NOT be a professor. He's extremely egocentric and shows clips of his old news stories. He also isn't above assigning 2 video projects during the week of exams. Bottom line, he's knowledgeable but an awful professor.

Cool teacher, not strict, helpful, teaches a lot of good things, will learn a lot. If you're motivated and willing to do the work he'll help you on the grading. I loved his classes 240/340

His class is easy. He assigns a lot of useless, busy work, but if you do it you can get an A, and attendance is madatory. The only thing is you have to sit through classes where he mostly talks about himself (he is very full of himself) and you don't learn much.

Mass media was a good class if you are interested in the field. No doubt Harwood is way into himself but at least he has real world experience in television, radio and other fields.

Makes it easy to get an "A." Take notes when you read the chapter so when he gives you the study guide all you'll have to do it highlight what you need to know. Things done in class (i.e. videos) on the tests, so you might want to go otherwise you'll miss out. You can get up to 9 points extra credit on tests. Quizzes regularly. Must read book.

Is it possible that a pointless class can also have a worthless teacher? YES! If you are interested in Harwood's past PR work take the class. If you want to learn anything dont.

its an easy class, but there is way too much homework. he never has a lesson plan, so if you take him as night class he spends the 3 hrs. talking about himself. Hes unorganized & gives late grade even when you handed stuff in on time. Class is very easy, gives a study guide with page numbers and READS it to you, in case everything else didnt help

He does like to talk about himself, and it is a bit boring. The homework doesn't take so long, because he doesn't care about details and content, just do it. You do have to read the book and study, but the study guides make it easy. He is very nice and respectful to every student and understanding.

Great class, great teacher. Assignments are "real world" and team newscasts are fun. I'm taking him next semester in the TV reporting class.
