Well... I must admit that he is really good at the subject himself. But, his lectures are boring as hell. More than half of the class are on their cell phones during the class and although a few try to follow what he is saying, but I don't think they had a lot of luck. It's quite easy to achieve a good mark though(he makes the highest score 100).

He doesn't grade the homework and his tests are nothing like the review problems he gives. I do alot of extra review out of the book but I still fail his extremely hard tests.

Pavel knows all of the Great Mathematicians by name, their theorems and their nationalities. He teaches there exists more to mathematics than what appears on the page/program. He asserts we must explore the fourth dimension. He has taught internationally, worked with the soviet space program.

He has a thick Russian accent, which you get used to quickly. He's a good teacher and stresses on proofs so classes tend to be boring. His tests can be difficult and he has a review session the day before, which helps a lot. Also, he curves, which is a huge plus!

His speech is hard to understand. He has reviews before each test which helps tremendously and we could use one note page on the tests. His homework problems are not graded.

Comment:
The examples he uses are copied from the book, and when he explains them he is not very clear. His tests are easy if you study at least a few hours, particularly on the review problems given to you two days before the tests. Always write as much information as you can down on each test problem because he likes to give partial credit.

He is a really smart teacher but is sometimes hard to understand. He talks fast and skips steps often. If you go in for help he is very kind and willing to help. Also he has practice exams which are identical to the regular exam.

you get used to his very thick Russian accent. He gives HW but doesn't collect, which makes it difficult to get motivated to do it. His lectures are straight out of the book and only does the examples that are already done in the book. He gives a sample test, but is much easier than what the actual test is. so expect to be worked hard on the test.

Very smart. helpful if you need, but best part is that he lets you take retakes for tests, so that's an easy grade. No real complaints and I hate Real Analysis. Take him as often as possible.

One of my favorite two teachers here at MSU. He wants you to learn so bad that he once jumped up and down in class when someone answered a question wrong when he had just told us the answer. He talks about his family and past in class and it is all very interesting.

Very difficult to understand. He is just too smart for the student. Very easy to get an A if you just do the practice test but not good if u need to learn Diff. Eq. I wud say avoid him for the sake of learning, unless u really need to improve ur GPA
