I took his class online and the zoom meetings were optional but if you had questions or wanted to know more about the assignments it would be best to show up. You use the writer's handbook maybe like 5 times throughout the semester, he's very helpful and gives extra credit opportunities for essays. Don't fall behind on class notebooks!

Dr. Bethanis was always really sweet and had lots of stories to tell. He is kinda like that awkward uncle that comes over every once and a while. If you did some kind of AP course in high school you will be just fine. His class was pretty easy for me. But his test can be pretty hard. And he also grades hard so make sure you proofread everything.

Best part about this class: every class period he will say word for word, "All right, class. Why don't we begin class today?" He has really interesting stories to tell the class, and he has the ability to capture the class and intrigue. My favorite subjects in this class were the music genres. The essays you write are about your interests!

I loved having class with Professor Bethanis but he's not for everyone. One class is to read and analyze the reading due and the other day is a workshop where you share and receive feedback on your pieces. I like the set up but I know some don't. He's super nice and caring and willing to help students.

He was a simple teacher. We did reading/discussion of poets on Tuesday and workshopped our own poems on Thursdays. Two poetry projects and one final Poetry Notebook. Gives good feedback and likes to have the class participate. There were a few quizzes, but it was all stuff he goes over in class. Just show up and pay attention.

dont waste money on the textbooks because you can find everything online. he is super nice and funny - my favorite prof and favorite class. there's two writing projects that are literally anything about anything and a couple quizzes that are passable. 10/10 would recommend

He gives a lot of lectures but they are full of information that you will need. He keeps up to date with current events so his lectures pertain to the real world. The quizzes are very easy as long as you take notes.

Bethanis is my favorite professors at Ball State. He gives great feedback on writing projects and his lectues are engaging and never boring. Class participation provides different perspectives from the students and interesting thoughts on class material. He inspires you to write about subjects you know but maybe wouldn't talk.

He is fine, but his class is kind of tedious. If you don't want to write three poems, avoid him.

He is an interesting one... That's for sure. I like his in class topics, and they lead to good discussions, but my class didn't really talk a lot. He talks a lot with an interesting speech pattern. Three total papers and three quizzes, so it's not a lot of work.

He's very nice and good at preparing you for your papers. He's really strict on plagiarism so make sure you sight EVERYTHING. Other than that, the lectures can be boring but you should go to them because a lot of what he says ends up being on the test.

He was okay. Lecture are extremely boring. The whole course is to prepare you to write papers for ENG 104 so the rest of the class was kind of weird and seemed a little pointless. If you skip class, make sure you have a buddy to get notes from anything is fair game for the quiz. Make sure you write at least 5 pages for the papers.
