I think he might be the worst history professor at UA. I took a course with him even after reading all the comments on RMP and found the worst of them to be true. Vindictive, elitist, boring, does not care what students have to say. He will yawn and rub his eyes when students comment and if you don't agree w/ him, forget it. Awful readings too.

He gives boring, often long winded lectures. He plays to usually 10 favorites out of a class of 80. He assigns work then will change when it’s due fairly close to its original due date. I took this class even after reading the bad reviews, and I found them to be mostly true. He is too boring, too arrogant, and too unhelpful to waste time with.

Prof Berger is definitely an inspiration, and shared my passion for Early modern European history. I looked forward to each and every class. He challenged me immensely. I would DEFINITELY recommend his classes to anyone looking to take a course from him.

AWFUL! Condescending, defensive, nasty, vindictive, whining. Doesn't keep track of what he assigned, won't admit it, + holds students accountable. Nice to a few favorites, otherwise hates people. Pretends he's open and laid back, urges you to challenge him + critique his book, then gets even!
