Comment:

Rowland is a fantastic teacher and musician. He cares about his students, even though sometimes he pretends to be rough on them. He's fun and appreciates intelligent humor and solfege puns, however, when it comes time to work, he expects you to respect that. He truly cares about creating music, not just singing the notes. You get what you put in.

Dr. B conducts the AU Choir with skill and warmth. His approachability and droll, often "dad joke", music-related sense of humor make rehearsals highly enjoyable and, due to their long length, bearable. Although he has a tendency to get tougher before performances, this is completely understandable and in no way too severe. His class is a joy.

Dr. Blackley is one of the smartest and most useful professors around. He's very knowledgable, cares a lot about making everything crystal clear & clean, and cares about his students & what they learn. He's helped to make a lot of good choral music educators out there. I highly reccommend him if you're interested in choir or anything in music ed.

Dr. Blackley is a good guy. He knows his stuff and he strives to make the choir the best it can possibly be. He's usually pretty easy-going as long as you do what he says though he can get a little crazy during concert time. BTW, his jokes are awful...

Dr. Blackley is a good guy and good professor! He's very helpful and has high expectations for his choir. He's usually pretty easy-going and as long as you do what he tells you to do, you'll be fine. He tends to joke around a lot and tells horrible jokes but it makes the class interesting!

This man is the Simon Cowell of collegiate choir directors. Although this makes him a bit frustrating at times, you always have a good idea of where you stand and what you need to improve on.

Dr. Blackley, although he knows what he's talking about, tends to have overly biting sarcasm that drives many people out of the music dept. He is extremely arrogant and that pompousness overrides his knowledge. He disregards the fact that students have other courses aside from choir and is completely unflexible.

Dr. B cares a lot about his students and pays specific attention to the music majors/minors. Anyone can audition and he doesn't descriminate b/c of majors. Can be a little sarcastic, but we all have bad days. Sometimes has great one-liners and doesn't mind joking with students or when students kid back. Choir is a lot of time commitment, but the music is great and it really develops into a community, w/ Dr. B's guidance if you shut up and listen to him. He knows what he's talking about 99% of the time.
